Prior to hearing the first interview, Councilmembers set guidelines for the interview process as
follows:
Individual questions based upon specific items in respective applications could be asked of any
applicant without that question being generalized to the remainder of the applicant pool.
However, the following general questions would be asked of all applicants:
(1) Have you ever been responsible for managing a budget? If so, what was the dollar
amount?
(2) How would you describe South San Francisco to someone?
(3) Would you be able to attend day and evening meetings?
(4) Are you aware of the time commitment the position calls for? There are over 300 events,
some mandatory and some optional, would you be able to manage this commitment?
(5) What three personal attributes unique to you would make you an effective
Councilmember?
Regarding the interview process, Councilmembers expressed a preference that applicants not
attend the interviews of other applicants prior to the time of their own respective interview for
fairness reasons. Applicants would be advised of that preference either directly on this evening
or by e-mail on December 20th; however, as meetings f.or inter-views are open and public,
applicants could choose bow they wished to proceed in this regard.
5. Council Appointment Interviews - interview schedule was determined by random order
drawing conducted by the Office of'City Clerk and witnessed by Executive Assistant to
the City Manager, Donna Ochoa.

Further interviews will be heard on Saturday, December 22, 2012.
Council inter-viewed the applicants identified above.
6. Adjournment.
Being no further business, Mayor Gonzalez adjourned the meeting at 8:33 p.m.
