HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 1639-1951 SOLUTION NO-. A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SE:'~R RENTALS AND R~.~LES AND REG~%ATIONS IN CONNF£TION :~ETH DOMESTIC SE,,~AGE AND INDUSTRIAL WASTES. WHEREAS Ordinance No. 305 of the City of South San Francisco, entitled "Ordinance Relating To Sewer Rentals", which ordinance was adopted on the 18th day of December 1950, provides that sewer rentals for domestic, commercial, and industrial use in the City of South San Francisco, shall be established by resolution of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco; and ~EREAS it is the desire of said City Council to establish such sewer rentals and rules and regulations in connection therewith; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT R~SOLVED that the following schedule of monthly rates is hereby adopted, said rates to be effective commencing April l, 1951: Type o_~fOccupancy Single Family Dwellings Duplex Dwellings (Housing 2 families) Multiple Family Dwellings, Apartments and Flats (Housing 3 or more families) Inside City ~imits $0.75 per month $0.75 per unit per month $O. 7 5 per unit per month Commercial houses, office buildings, hotels Minimum charge per sewer connection $0.75 per month Sewage contribution of less than 30,000 gallons per day, the volume charge per 100 cubic feet of water, based on mater meter readings $0.07 per 100 Cubic Feet The works engineer may require the installation of suitable screening and pretreat- ment devices on the user's premises to prepare the waste so that the city treatment plant can ade- quately treat the waste with its designed normal treatment processes. It may also require approved mechanical measuring and recording devices on the user's prmmises. All the above special equipment shall be installed at the sole expense of the industry and with the approval and to the satisfact- ion of the city works engineer. The works engineer or his representative shall have the right at all times to check the operation of the screening mechsnism, the operation of the meas~ring ~nd recording devices and to ~%ke records of the readings. Every industry shall, at its own expense, remove and dispose of all waste material retained upon the screens and not approved for disposal in the city sewage and treatment system. Industries: Minimum charge $2.00 per month Sewage contribution: 1st 100,0OO cu. ft. @ ~07 per 100 cubic feet Next lOO,O00" " ".06 per 100 cubic feet " 300,000" " ".05 per 100 cubic feet " 500,000" " ".O~ per 1OO cubic feet All over 1,OOO,O00 cubic feet at $.03 per 100 cubic feet. The above monthly charge shall be based upon the character and volume of the waste which can be properly handled by the city sewage treatment plant. Be it further resolved that the follo'~lng miles and regulationg are established with respect to domestic sewage and industri~l wastes: Screening required (a) Domestic sewage, consisting essentially of human wastes, may be passed into sewers with.ut screening. (b) Industrial wastes must be screened through the equivalent of a screen with 20 meshes per lineal inch in both directions. II. Storm, surface and ground waters. No storm, surface and ground waters shall be permitted to flow into the city sanitary sewer system. III. Combined soUrce of water. All water, whether from the city's supply of from private sources, which.is d~sposited inbo the sanitary sewer system~, shall be included for the purpose of arriving at sewer rental charges, IV. Determination of sewage quantities. All quantities of sewage shall be determined by the works engineer, which shall be based on the pereentage of water used that is actually deposited into the sanitary sewer system, ex- cept that any user who may disagree with the works engineer's determination, may at his own expense install measuring devices, subject to the aoproval of the engineering and water de- partments.
