HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1920-10-15 Regular meetin~o of the Board of Trustees of the City of South S~n Francisco he~.~onday October the 18th., &~20, at ZIO Linden Ave. The meeting was celled to order st 8 O'clock P.~. by G.W.Iiolston, President of the Board ~OLL CALL ' Roll call found the fo2]owing Trustees present, to-wit;- ~.G.Hardy, Jr., H.Scampini, G.W.HolSton. Absent, Trustees , F.A.Cunningh~m, A.J.Eschelbach.~ Trustee Cunningh~m appeare~ after roll call. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Cunningh~m seconded by Trustee Scampini and regularly carried were approved. Delegations from the loaal American Legion, The Wom~n's Club, and the Chamber of Commerce ~ppeared before the Board on the s~bject of the celebration of Armistice Day'and the dedication of the New City Hall. It was unanimously agreed that the Board of Trustees and the bodies represe~ should Join forces and work together for the success of the celebration and dedication. Wednesday evening the 20th., inst. was selected as the date for the firs~ meefing, at the City The clerk was instructed to notify the Chronicle reporter, E.~.~oore , to be on hand, the idea bein~ to give as much publiqity zs possible to the b~g events. Communications were received from the Improved Order of liedmen and the Bernard ~cC5ffery Post, #85, American Legion, ~sking permission to run dances till 2 A.~ Oct. ~e 2Zrd and Nov. the respectively. P~rmission gr~nted. A communicstion was received from the Board ~f Trustees of the City of Chico asking the of South San Francisco to send a representation to the ~eague of Californim ~unicipalities conventi, at Chico, President Holston ~ccordingly appointed Health officer McGovern,City attorney Coleberd City Engineer Kneese znd Clerk McSweeney to represent the municipality at Chico! after motion made by Trustee Scampini seconded by Trustee H~rdy. Eayor ~.C Berkley of Santa Monica wrote soliciting the support of South San Francisco in endeavoring to secure the convention of the Le~gue of Municipalities for his city in 1921. ~ccepted and filed. R?G.Burns oetitioned the Board for assistance in locating the sewer latteral opposite his property on the ~an Bruno Ro~d. On motion of Trustee Cunningham'seconded by Trustee H~rdy the City Engineer was empowered to employ help to locate the latteral. The Pacific Gas & Electric Co advised the Board that the power restriction had bemn removed from street lighting, commencing on the 15th in~t. Accepted and filed. President Holston received a letter to the same effect from ~.~.Butler, Power Administra who thanked the Board an~ the citizens generally for their splendid co-operation in making the rest tive orders effe~tive. Communication filed. A petition was received from the P.G&E asking perm£ssion to set poles on the Alley off Linden Avenue, between Armour and Juniper Avenues, for the purpose of supplying ~-~, electricity to L.N~zzi. 0N motion of Trustee Cunningham seconded by Trustee ~fardy the request was granted. The following resolution was introduced by Trustee ~unningham;- Resolved b~ the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, that C.B.Cowden be prid the sum of six thous~nd nine hundred and six and 9~ / 100 dollars$6906.95) as the final p~ymen on account of his contract with said clt~ for construction of sewers in the factory district of sai city.. Ihereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South S~n Francisco this 18th., d~y of October, 1920, by the following vote;- Ayes, Trustees , F.Z.Cunningham, L.G.Hardy Jr., H.Sc~mpini, G.W.Holston. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustees, A.J.Eschelbsch. The following claims against ~he city were then presented for ~yment. Fred Schmidt, ~ days work on t~z bills, ~18.00 Will,rd Emery Z days work on tax bills, 18.00 N~zarino Medeghini, St, Sweeping,~2 d~ys ~eptl4?.00. Moved by Trustee Scampini that the bills be paid. Trustee Eardy seconded the motion and it was regularly carried. ~oved by Trustee ~unningham seconded by Trustee Hardy that the ~oard adjourn to meet again at ~n ~djourned meeting Tuesday, October the 26th.; ~t ~,ZO p.m. Carried.
