The meeting was cal~.~,d to order at 7;30 o'clockp.m, by Trustee G.W.Holston, President of the R°ll Call. Roll call found the f~llowing Trustees present,to-wit;- F.A.Cunningham, A.J-~schelbach and G.W.Holston. Absent, Trustees, L.G.Hardy Jr., and H. Scampini. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Cunningham seconAed by Truste~ Eschelbach and regularly carried were approved as read. A communication was received fromM rs. Favre, 2~4 California Avenue stating that a disreputable house was maintained next door to the Ship Hotel, and that her son was robbed of a week's wages there recently. The City Marshalwas iDstructed to investigate the place and interview Mrs. Favre. City Marshal Conrad in a written communication to the Board stated that C.E.Johnson,owner of the restaurant at $90 Grand Avenue was conducting the place in s more or less disorderly manner, and asked ~the Board to cite Mr, Johnson to appear before them to show cause why his license should not be revoke. The Clerk was instructed to communicate with N~. Johnson by letter and request that he appear before ~ ~ the Board at the next meeting. A communication wzs received from John Aselio of the Shipyard Restaurant asking that his soft dr license be transferred to the Locatelli Hotel and that the same be under the name ~ Aselio & Garbarin who are about to take over the Locatelli Hotel. Request granted. The application of Charles ~enconi of the S.P.Hotel for a soft drink license, which had been refe ~to the City Marshal at the last meeting was considered. The City Marshal reported favorably on the ap~ cation and Trustee Eschelbach moved that the license be granted. The motion was seconded by Trustee ~Cunningham ~nd regularly carried by the following vote;- Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, G.W.Holston. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, TrusteeS, L.G.Hardy Jr., H.Scampini. The case of Gulio Lombardi of the Norman Hotel, charged with a violation of the Soft Drink Licen Ordinance by keeping open after hours was next taken up. After the evidence was taken the Board decide ~. Lombardi was guilty and ordered his license revoked. City I~arshal Conrad asked the Board for a two weeks leave of absence. Granted. A petition was received from~a number of property owners on Grand Avenue protesting against the improvement of that street by installing electroliers therein. The president of the Board asked if the were any further protests or any persons present whowished to protest against the proposed improvemen of Grand Avenue. Mrs Iago protested against the improvement on the ground that it was of no benefit to her. The objections,apparently not being well sustained Trustee Cunningham introduced the following resolution;- N0.49. RESOLUTION OVERRULING PROTEST. Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco did, on the ?th day of August, 192~, pass its resolution of intention No. ~9 to order certain street work to be done and i vements to be made in said city, under and in pursuance of the"Xmprovement Act of 1911", the names of streets and highways proposed to be improved and the location and character of said proposed work bein described in said Resolution of Intention, Which is hereby expressly referred to for further particula alld ~. , Whereas certain owners of property liable to be assessed for said work have made written pro ~tests or objections against said work; and Whwreas, at the time set for hearing protests and objections, the Board of Trustees proceede to hear the same, and all of said protests and objections having been heard and duly considered; Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the said protests and objections agsinst said proposed work or improvements be, and the same are hereby overruled and denied. Be it further resolved that said board finds that said protests are made by the owners of le than one-half of the area of the property to be assessed for said improvements. **************************** I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 28th day of August, 192£, by the foll .ing vote;- Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, G.W.Holston. The following, resolution was introduced by Trustee Eschelbach;- Daniel McSweeney City Clerk. Resolved that, whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco did, on the ?t day of August, 1922, pass its Resolution of Intention No.49 to order the hereinafter described work to done and improvement to be made in said city, which resolution of intention was duly and regularly pub lished as required by la~, as appears from the affidavit of Robert Speed, now on file in the office of City Clerk; and Whereas notices of the passage of said Resolution of Intention No. 49 headed "Notices o Improvement" were duly andlegally posted along the line of Said contemplated work or improvement and front of all the property liable to be assessed therefor, and along all the open streets within the di trict hereinafter described, in for~ and manner as required by law, as appears from the affidavit of 'George A.Kneese, Superintendent of Streets of said city, who after the completion of the' posting of t said notices filed his affidavit in the office of the City Clerk, making oath that he completed the po ing of said notices on the 16th day of August, 1922; and Whereas all protests and objections presented against said, work have been heard and dispos in time, form and manner as required by law; Therefore be it resolved that public interest and convenience require the work hereinafter de -cribed, and the Board of Trustees hereby orders the following work to bem~done in said city, to-wit; That Grand Avenue from the center line of Division Street to the westerly line of Spruce Aven .Linden Avenue from the southerly line of Commercial Avenue to the~ortherly'line of Miller Avenue and ;"-' ' the Board at the next meeting. .ti communication was received from John Aselio of the Shipyard Restaurant asking that his soft license be transferred to the Locatelli Hotel and that the same be under the name ox' Aselto & Garba~ who are about to take over the Locatelli Hotel. There is included in the work and improvements to be done herein all intersections and terminati~ occurring on said Grand A~enue, Linden Avenue an~ San Bruno Road within the~lines hereinbefore describe, The streets hereinbefore referred to are shown upon that~certain map entitled "South San Francis, San Hateo County, Cal., Plat No. l", which map was filed in the office of the County Recorder of the Cot of San Mateo, California,"~arch lst,~892, and recorded in Hap Book No. 2 at page All work herein provided for shall be done to official grade and in accordance with the special plans and specifications for said work, which plans and specifications are entitled "Pla~sand specifica' for the construction of improvement work on portions of Grand Avenue, Linden Avenue and an Bruno Ro~d in the 0ity of South San ~rancisco, County of SanMateo, State of California. which streets and avenues are fully shown upon the plans hereto attached, which plans are made a part hereof", which plan~ and specifications were heretofore adopted by said Board of Trustees on the ?th day of August. 1922, and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk. and to which plans and specifications reference is hereby~made for a further description of said work and for the location and extent of the work to be done hereunder and for a particular description of the boundaries of the district herein mentioned, Any duplication of the work hereinbefore described shall be ignored. And said Board of Trustees does hereby determine and declare that said proposed work and improve. merit is of more than local or ordinary public benefit and will affect and benefit the lands and distric' hereinafter described, which district is hereby declared to be the district benefited by said work and improvement, and that therefore the entire costs and expenses of said work and improvement shall be and are hereby made chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district, except as herein. after expressly provided, which district is within said City of South San Francisco. Except as hereinafter provided, all of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of an act of the ~egislature of the State of California, designated as~the "Improvement Act of 1911", approved April ?th,1911, and the amendments thereto. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice of said work together with the plans and specifications therefor, conspicuously for Five (8) days on or near the Council Chamber door inviting~ sealed proposals for doing the work ordered. Cal.
