The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held
in the City Hall ~onday June 4th,1923.
The meeting was called to order at 7;30 o'clock p. m. by Trustee G.W.Holston, President
of the Board.
Roll Call.
Roll call found the following Trustees present, to-wit,
Trustees, F,A,Cunningham J.W.Pitt, E. Scampini, and G,W,Holston.
Absent, Trustees, A.J.Eschelbach~
Trustee Eschelbach appeared after roll call.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Cn~ingham seconded
by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried were aoproved as read.
A communication was received from the Three Cities C~amber of Commerce inviting this city
to send representatives to the War Department Office at San Francisco on June ?th, endorsing the Bridge
project between San Mateo and Hayward. The Trustees being unable to a~tend in a body Trustee Eschelbach
volunteered to represent the city and accordingly was selected.
The Pacific Gas & Electric Company sent in a communication stating that on resurvey they
find they will be in a position to lay gas mains in the High School Park Addtition, as requested by
residents of that section last April. It was intimated that work would commence as soon as the approval
of the Head Office arrives· Communication ordered filed.
The South San ~rancisco Merchants Association called attention of the danger to school
children in crossing the streets in front of the local Grammar and Martin Schools before and after schOol,
and requested the city to give p~otection to them during the hours 8 to 9 , 12 to 1. and 2 to 3 o'clo,k.p.
President Holston referred the matter to City Marshal Conradand asked that he give the subject the best
consideration possible.
An application, for a soft drink license and one for a pool room license were received from
Gmecia & Perez,South City Hotel, 2~0 Grand Avehue. The application were referred to Marshal Conrad for
investigation.
Complaint was received from the Board of Health reminding the City Trustees that the vacant
lot North West Corner of Railroad & Spruce Avenues is still full of stagnant water and a menace to the
health of the people in that community. The Clerk was instructed to write the So. ~.F.Land & Imorovement
Company again and request that they abate the nuisance at the earliest possible opportunity.
The reports of the Building Inspector, City Recorder, City Marshal. Health Officer,, Fire
Chief, Electrical Inspector and City Clerk for the month ending May Zlst,192~ were received and read.
The report of the City Clerk showed the following balances in the various funds.- General Fund. · ~
~26,356.38, Library Fund, $$4,642.96, Sinking Fund for sewers $3,106.99, Factory District Sewer Fund,
~719.82, 1919 Bonds, $8,003.41, Anti-tubercular fund, $149.88' , ·

Total balance in all funds, $4~,920.26. It was moved by Trustee C,~nuingham that the reports be accepted
as read. The motion was seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried.

approved by the finance committee Trustee Cunningham moved they be paid. The motion was seconded by
Eschelbach and regularl~ carried. There being no further business before the Board Trustee Pitt moved t6
adjourn uhtil the next regular meeting. The motion was seconded by Trustee Scampini ahd regularly~,ried
