The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Tues~day, September 8th, 1925, ~o~day Septen~ber ?th,192~ being Labor Day, a legal Holiday. The meeting was cal~ed to order at 7~Z0 o'clock p.m. by Trustee H.F.,~icNellis, President of the board. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all trustees preSent,to-wit;- Trustees, Blank,Cunningham,Eschelbach, ~cCaffrey, NcNel~is. The minutes of the previous m~eting were read, and there being no errors or omissions were approved as read. A communication w~s received from the League of Californi~ E~&uicipalities notifying the board that the 2?th annual convention of the league would b~ held in Long Beach September 28th to October ~rd, next, ~nd inviting the Bbard of Trustees and other city officials to attend. Preslden ~1cNellis stated that any members of the Board of Trustees and other city officials who wished to attend the convention may do so. A comm~mication was received~from the Southern Pacific Company in reply to the city's letter requesting the ~ompany to re~air their road~ay in the vicinity of Swift Avenue and their tr The letter state8 the had already made the necessary repairs. The South San Francisco BaSeball Club made application for a permit to hold a dance in Fraternal Hall Saturday evening October Zrd next, the same to continue until 2 a.m. Permission was granted to rin the dance until, 1.a.m. Trustee Cunn£ngham called the board's attention to the fact that the new Aviation Field would require the land now occupied by the city's dumping ground. President of the Board ~IcNellis asked the Board of Trustees to meet ~t the office of the land company Thursday morning Sept 10~at to make arra~ngements for the removal of the dumping ground to a new suitable location. City ~Larsh~l Bellon~. ~ade request upon the board for new tires for his ~uto which is used city work. On motion by Trustee Cunningha~ seconded by Trustee McOaffrey the chief v~as ~llowed reimbursement for tires ~t the rate of $~6 each. The ~arshal's report for the months of ~July ~nd August was received. The re?crt showed fines of $90 for July and $75 for August. The repo~t was accepted ~s read. RESOLUTIOI~ 0RDERI~G THE WOEK. This being the date set for the hearing of protests against the paving of Braden, and non~ appearing Trustee Blank introduced a re~olution ordering the work and set~ing the date for the acc~ of bids ~s October 5th,1925 up to the hour of 8 o'clock p.~. The resolution was passed and adopted by the following vote;- Ayes, Trustees, Blank,C~u~ingham, Eschelbach, EcC~ffrey, EcNellis. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustees, ~None. Attest, Daniel ~cSweeney, City Clerk Recorded in Boo~ of resoluti~ns, Volu~e 2, at page 66. Eecall Petition. A recal~ petition was next pre~ented to the board and read by the City Clerk. The petiti~ asked that an election be held to recall Trustees ~cCaf~rey, McNellis and Blank on stated specific grounds. A counter petition was ~lso presented and road to the board, asking that the names of the subscribers be withdraw from the original petition. The clerk stated he had examined'the names of petitioners ss to their qualifications to sign the petition~nd £o~d that 4~ person~ ~ere not reg~ at the addresses given, 46 ha~ not qualified ~ voters thirty day~, previouo to signing the Detitio~ to recall, eighteon had given,%ccuDation or street addresses c~nd one hundred and thirty-seven had petitioned to have their names withdrawn from the petition. The clerk then presented a certific~.t~ stating that the said petition h~d not a sufficient number of qualified e~ector~ or voters as sig~ as required by law, and that s~id vetition is not sufficient in fern ~s required by law. Attorney Coleberd asked that a resolution be passe~ calling for ~ recall election. City attorney Davis objected to this stating it w~s not up to the Board of Trustees, but up to the City who had found that the petition was lacking ~ sufficient number of qualified names as required by an~ £or other l~al causes~ After, considerable debate t~.e m~tter rested. The' motion was seconded by Trustee Blank and regularly carried.
