The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City H~!l ~;onday evening, December 7th,1925. The meeting w~s called to order at 7;ZO o'clock p.m. by trustee H.F.McNellis, President the Board. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all trustees present, to-wit,:- Trustees, Blank,Cunningham,Eschelbach,HcCaffrey,~,~cNellis. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and there being no errors or omissions we approved a.s read. A communication was received fro~ the South San Francisco Fire Department asking the us the Council Chambers of the Board of Trustees for a ~eeting of the Associated Firemen of San ~ate County on December 15th,1925. . Granted. Yermission was also requested by the local firemen to hold a whist party and dance in Fraternal Hall, Saturday evening,December 12th,1925, from 8:30 p.m. until I a.m, Permit Franted, Dan S.Praser, Z6 Randolph Avenue, asked the board's permission to remove a tree in from of his lot 18,block A, Peck's Sub. Permission granted. Postmaster ~.G.Hardy made written'request for the~se~of one of the rooms in the City H for the U.S.Civil Service Examiners conducting examinations for clerks and carriers. Permission granted. The date set for the examination being December 12th,~925. A communication was received from the Wi].dberg Smelting Company as]~ing that repairs be the Butler Road from the Bay Shore Highway to a point near the old Smelter Spur Track. -~eferred t the street committee. A letter from Mr.P.J.Shaw of the land co~:~a, ny urged the re?airing of the for the benefit of the industries affected. A communication was receive8 from the Paci$ic Gas & Electric Company asking permission B ~ ~o set poles to supply consumers in A Street, aaen . Permission granted. ~n order was received from the Railroad Commission dated ?th day of November,1925," statin~ that on that d~:te ,Linden Avenue crossl~g near,'~ ~ .~n~.oran Road at a point near Engineer's St 39-00 was ordered closed, to take effect on the opening of the subway under the Southern Pacific and Belt Railway tracke. As the city had no notice of this intended action many citizens &.,the'T Trust'~e,objected to the order. It was decided to make written objections to the order and to instruct McCaffreY,~ttorney Da. vie to communicate with the commission and ask for a rehearing. A resolution was intr passed~ddresSing, the R~i~road CommissiOn and protesting ~.,gainst the closing of the crossing and asking rehearing. Recorded in Book of Resolutions, Vol 2, at page 72. The reports of the fire chief and the city clerk for the month ending November 50,1925 w received and read to the board. On motion by trustee Cunningham seconded by trurt Eschelbach the reports we, re accepted as ~ead. The City Engineer asked by trustee Mc0affrey if the flow of sulphuric acid through the comer sewer in the factory district would have any inj'~rious effect upon the concrete. The city Engine stated the effect is highly injurious. The matter of the city d~ming ground was brought to the atzention of the bo~.rd and referred street committee. The petition for the pavement of the alley in block 103 was taken up. and referre~ to the City Engineer. ~h ~ City Attorney Davis reported progress in ~ e work o~ preparing a franchise to supply wet to the city and inhabitants. Citizen Joe Walker appeared before the board and stated that a bill of ~199 was still ~ on the float of this city which appeared in the Dia~ond Jubilee, and suggested the city might fur the amount due. After much diecussion the matter remained unsettled. President ~cI~ellis called the board's attention to the fact thatthe quarters occupied b the Justice of the Peace in the City Ha]_l were required by the city. Trustee McCaffrey stated the rooms were used,.' as a rendevous for recallers against three city trustees and moved they be racet by the Justice by January First, ne:~t. The motion was seconded by Trustee Blank and carried by th following vote, Ayes, Trustees, Blank, McCaffrey, ~cNellis, Noes, Trustee , EscheZbach, Trustee Cunningham not voting. The clerk was instructed to order a phone plaeed in the home of Officer Floyd ~enzie. City Olerk asked if the DeCember pay checks should be pa~d before Christmas. as usual. The board instructed that the cheeks be paid as heretofore.
