The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco was held in the city hall on ~ionday evening, L~arch £1st,1927. The meeting was called to order i~y Trustee F.A.Cunni~gham, 3resident of the Board, at 7:30 o'clock p.m. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following trustees present, to-~it, Trustees, Lloyd, Einucciani, Tibbetts, Cunningham. Absent, Trustee Eschelbach. Trustee Eschelbach appeared after roll call. The minutes of the previous meetiug were read, arid ~hero being no errors or. omiss~ons were approved as read. A~plication for a permit to erect an electric sign for the Del L~onte Restaurant, 210 Grand Avenue, was received from Jos. Laib Jr. Permit granted. The Happy Three Club of South San Francisco made a~,y, lication for a ~ermit. to hold a dance i Fraternal Hall on Saturday ew~ning, April 2nd next. Permit granted. A communication was received from M.A.Borba asking permission to lay ~nd cut a tree along curb on Orand Avenue near Eucalyptus Avenue for a period of approximately a half a day. P<~rmission granted. A request for a r~fund of weed tax in~v'.the sum of $2.08 was received from Liartin Casagrande, lot El, block 1Z6, ~a',' of South San Francisco. ,Th~request was no~ granted. Dr.J.C%'McGovern requested ,.~ the~oardJ~ to ~sk the Pacific 'Tele~hone and Telegraph Company to remove a pole from in front of his ~ropose~ garage, Eucaly~tus Avenue near Grand Ave~me. The c~erk Was.instructed to write the telephone coml~any requesling the removal of t~e pole. A communication was received fro~ ~.Paaquale Com7~any, enclosing a claim for $7.42 for a cap stated to have been furnished a Er. Lange. As the city has no record of the em~loyment of ~r. Ls ~he claim wa~ not allowed. Fire Chief Louis ~el!oni tendered his resignation as fire ~arsha! of the city to take ef£ec April lst,1927.Resignation accepted & emotion by trustee LLoyd, seconded by trustee Liinucciani and regularly carried John Costa v,a~ appointed to fill the vacancy, conm~encing A~',ril first,192?. The a~plication of the ~!iggly.Wiggly Com~'any for a soft driak License was granted, and %he ar~plication of John Fischer for ~. soft drink licanse was denied. This being the date set for ~,he openiJ~g of bids for ~£ new double fSre hydrants Trustee LIc mov,d that the bids be opened. The ~otL~on was seconded by True, tee Eschelbach and regularly carried. The following bids were the~ open,'~d and read;- Water ~orks Supply Company, f.o.b. San Francisco Stephen Smith Company, (~,ory Pattern), no deposit $672.00 ~60Z!00, Enterprise Foundry Company ~768 00 Greenberg's Tons ~780 00 United Iron ?~orks L.o.b.2o. San Francisco ~684 00. The United Iron ~orks'of 0akla~d appearing the lowest responsible bidder Trustee E~chelback introduced a resolution of a~'ard to the United Iron Works oY Oakland at the £i~ure mentioned in the bid, to-~i% $684.00. Eesolution adoI%ed by the vote of all the members of the board, namely, aye Trustees, L~chelba~h,<~Lloyd, ~inucciani, Tibbetts, Cunningham, iloes, Trustees, Hone, Absent,Truste~ None. Trustee Tibbet%s introduced a resolution petitioning the °tate High~'ay ~omn~ission to immediately begin the construction of v~mideni,~i~ the Bay Shore Highway from the under~aSs at South San francisco n:,rthward to Armour Avenue or the junction just north of Armour Avenue to relieve congestion when the underpass is finished, and re$~esti~g a copy be ~,ent to Governor Young. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of the members of the board.
