SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, HELD MONDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH,19ES.
A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was held
City Hall Monday evening, February E?th,1928.
This meeting was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. ~y Councilman A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor of
South San Francisco.

The reading of the' minutes of'the previous meeting was dispensed with.
A communication was received from the Spring Valley Water Company requesting the city to vacat~
the present dumping grounds covering the company's land. The clerk was instructed to' answer stati~
the city had bought ?.89 acres of land near Belle Air Island .for dumping ground~purposes, and expe¢
to move in as soon as al roadway is constructed. ~ayor Eschelbach volunteered fosse the company'~
representative, Mr. George Davis, personally.
E.H.Edwards Wire Company made request to the city to move several mounds of dirt in the vicin~
of their plant. Referred .to the street com~.ittee.
This being the date set for the opening of bids for the construction of a reinforced concrete
fire alarm station,Councilman Tibbetts moved that the bids be opened. The motion was seconded by, C,
manLloyd an~ regularly carried.. Accordingly the following bids were opened;-

R.C.Stickle being the loWest responsible bidder Councilman Lloyd introduced a resolution of
award of contract to R.C.Stickle. The resolution was adopted bY the unanimous vote of all the
members of the City Council, to-wit;-
Councilmen, A.Hynding, R.Zloyd, ~.Minucciani, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelb~ch.
Noes, Councilmen, None.
Absent, Councilmen, None.

0omplain~ having been made that vandals were breaking down city trees and destroying city pis
Councilman Lloyd moved that a reward of $100.00 be offered for the arrest and conviction of any
person found committing this offense. The motion was seconded by Councilman Tibbetts and regularly
carried.
May~ Eschelbach called the council's attention itc.the matter o~ placing the proposition of
concreting the sign"SOuth San Francisco,The Industrial City, on the ballot next April. City ~ttorne
Coleberd stated that a tentative deedshould be secured from the Land Co., possibly thrU the. 0hamb~x
Commerce, before placing the proposition on the ballot.
The applicm~efi¢or~detti BroS for~ a permit to alter the front of their building on Grand Avez
Corner of Cypress, and make alterations inside,,was granted providing the same were made according
thespians submitted, ~nd under the building Inspector's supervision.

Grand AAvenue would be considered by the police commission Tuesday, February 28.
Chief of Police Belloni stated the crosSi~$sat the street intersections torn up by the diffe
cpmpanies are left in bad condition and should be made passable, Re£er~'ed to the Street Committee.
Mayor Eschelbach requested the clerk to furnish the names and suggestions of the persons
regarding the naming of the alleys, at the next meeting. ~
