The regular meeting of the city council of the City of South Lan Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening, Jume 3rd,1929. The meeting was called to order at 7;30 o'clock p.m. by Councilman A.J ~ .~schelbach, Mayor~of South San ~rancisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following members of the council present, to-wit;- Councilmen A.Hynding,R.Lloyd, R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Absent, Councilman,M.Minucciani. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. An application was received from Angelo Genovesi asking permission to replace an old floor and install two new joices in his building ~206 Grand Avenue. Permission granted. Ambrose McSweeney applied for a permit to construct three Clas "C" stores on the North West· corner of Grand Avenue and Division Street, steel and tile m~terial to be used in the construction. Permit granted. A communication was received from Mrs. Margaret A. Weller stating the Parent Teachers Association wished to be placed on reco~d as favoring the construction of Children's Playgrounds and other improvements partaining to child welfare. Communication accepted. Request was made by the Enterprise Foundry Company for the appointment of ~irley M. Truitt,and John H.Faitz,as~deputies in their plant On motion regularlycarried the men ~eze appointed special policemen for the foundry compa ny, without municipal compensation, gnd with the stipulation that thei energies be confined to the plant only. H.L.Button of LL01 Broadway Street, Burlingame, requested permission to establish a taxi-cab service in the City of South San Francisco, with a stand in front of the Peninsula Lusic' Company's store on Grand Avenue. Heferred to the police commission. % Cordon Howe Company , after request b~ the cit~ council, submitted a~ statement s~owing expen- itures, etc, of the construction of the new fire alarm system. Accepted. A communication was received from the Market Otreet ~ailway Come.ny showing the gross receipte of the South San Francisco Sailroad & Power Company for the year ending April Mist,1929, to be ~23, $23,397.27, and the amount due the city under 0r~inances ~'s 66 and 85 to be ~447.95. ~ommunication accepted. The request of the ~tandare Oil Co for a refund of V3~ A/C pUmp, installation at 489 Grand A~ was denied. The monthly reports of The Chief of Police, Fire Chief,City Judge, building inspector and City Clerk for the month ending ~ay 31st,19£9 were received and accepted. Councilmen Tibbetts introduced a resolution authorizing City Attorne~ Coleberd in the name of the City of South San Francisco to release t~e judgment given in the action ~8119 in the Ouperior Court of the County of ~an Mateo, by the City of South San Francisco against the oanta Clara Land Company, and Bank of Italj'. The resolution wes adopted by the votes of all the members of the City Council present, to-wit;- Ayes, Councilmen, A.Hynding, E.Llo2d,R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Noos, Councilmen, none. Absent, Councilman,r.Minucciani, Attest Dani~l McSweeney City Clerk kecorded in Book of Res~lutions, Vol £, at page 248. The subject of the repair,and removal of o1~ buildings within the fire limits was brought to the attention of the council by councilman Lloyd. he stated the buildin~ ordinance should be rigidly enforced, city Attorney C~leberd advised the council he would give the ordinance careful study, but gave his opinion the ~ank of Italy end the ~letropolitan Hotel work die not require a permit. The Highway Developement Association ms. de a request to olace their n~me on the list to rec~ notice of intended or oroposed street improvement, So ordered. Owing to the death of Building inspector W.W.Brawn, oouncil~an ~_yndir~,g introduced a resolut~ of sympathy and cond}lence to the bereaved members of his family. TLe resolution was adopted unanimo~ by the' vote of all the members of the city council, and~adjournment was taken ~'" out of respect tc memory. . ~A'he city ~lerk was instructed to order a $10.00 floral piece sent to the family from the council.
