The regular meeting of the cit.~ co~nucil of t: e City of South San Francisco was held in the 3it~ Hall,?~onday evenin~j, July 20tb,195l. The men, ting was called to order at ?;Z0 o'clock p.m. by Eayor Zoseph ~.Quinlan. ROLL CALL. Roll call found, the follOWing members of the council present, to-wit; Councilmen, V.Boido,E.Einucciani, R.Tibbetts,Joseph P.Quinlan. Absent,Councilman. R.L] The minutes of the previous meetin~ were read. There being no errors or omissions they w~re approved as read. A comnmntcatio~ was received from Supervisor E. Jack Spaulding of San Francisco, ~hairman of the San ~Tancisco Airport Conm%ittee, requesting the~permission of thi~ city to erect a road sign at Bayshore Highway and th~ main street of South San Francisco, pointing th~ way to the San Francisco Airport. On the recommendation of Chief of Police Belloni the destr~ permissio~ was granted. A communication was received from the Northside Taxpayer's Association, requesting the cit~ to take action to open a road by the extension of Randolph Avenue to School Street cz Olive Avenue. They explained the opening of such a road is exceedingly desirable and a necessi on account of the danger to school children in crossing the highway. The council agreed tkis proposed road would be a great convenience and referred therequest to Supervisor Rickey, who nas power under the new law to expend monies within municipalities. .Ed.C.Church of Peck's Lots made application for the position of caretaker at the But Road Beach in case the city acquires the right to use the same. Application placed on file. South City Aerie of Eagles, ~o.147~ requested permission to hold a dance in Fraterna Hall Saturda~ evening, July 25th,1931. Permi:~sion granted. The National Oyster Company replied to the city's request for the use of the beach of which they have a five year lease, statin~ they would be willing to co-operate with the citl 'oy 8ranting the use of the beach free of charf-e if their lease would permit of it,and the city would be willing to build suitable fences around the portion alloted, place signs, etc. The ~ffer was acceptad with the thanks of the city. The clerk having written to the South San Francisco Land Company asking if permissi. .oould be given the oyster company under their lease for the use of the beach, a reply was recel from General l~nager P.J. Shaw, stating the company had leased the tide lan~s off Oyster Point and could not grant the desired permission, but suggested that if the city council would appoi~ a committee'to meet with him he would go over the property with them to see just ,~what~:portion ~f the front was required. Ee stated the proposition would then have to be referred to the Board of Directors of the Land Company. ~7or Quinlan accordingly appointed Rod Tibb~tts, Vic. Boido and ;'.~inucciani a conm:ittee to confer with Er. Shaw. Cou~cilma~ Minucciani introduced a resolution opposing the construction and operation of a race track in the southern end of San ~ateo County. Co~cil~n Tibbetts was requested to look into ~he application of ~i l~tteo for th removal of a certain li~ht pole. l~ayor Quinlan anno~,nced the appointments of Francis Garcla,Caroline Holbrook and Ira H.Potter as members of the Librar~ Boara~ of Trustees, to succeed themselves for the term of three years. Claims in the amour of $~87.V~ were next presented to the city co~cil for payment, The finance committee having audited the clips co~cil~n Minucci~i moved they be paid.
