A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the city hall ~,,~onday evening, July 24th,1955. This meeting was called to order at 7;50 o'clock,p.m, by ~v,"ayor Joseph P.0uinlan. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all me~bers of the council present,to-wit; Councilmen, V.Noido,R.Lloyd, }~.Minucc iani ,R.Tibbet ts, Joseph P.Quinlan. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. A communication was received from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company,stating the sum of $470.18 was was due the City of South San Francisco on its franchise under Ordinance No.155, coveriug the period from Ray Elst,1950 to December 51st,195Z, and enclosed a check for the amount. Accepted and ordered placed on file. Notice was received from the Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference stating their annual convention would be held in Monterey, August E5 to ~6th, and requested the city to send representatives to the meeting. On motion by Councilman Ninucciani the matter was ordered referred to Inspector Beatty. Communications were received from the League of California ~unicipalities notif~inE the city council of the annual meeting of the League at Santa Crum September 18th to ESrd, and requesting the~send representatives and speakerS. Accepted and filed. Mayor Quinlan received a communication from ~ayor C.A.Buck of Burlingame,President of the Mayors Department of the League of California ~.~unicipalities, asking if the City of South San Pta nciseo wished to Join in a new move~ent ~e organize the ~tate into a number of sections which would directly select the governing bod~y of the present state-wide body known as the League of California Dhmicipalities. The city council thought the plan was a beneficial one and requested Nayor ¢uinlan to reply to the communication in the affirmative. A report was received from J.Leroy Johnson,C~airman of the Legistative Comm. ittee of the League of California Municipapities, stating vsrious city officials of the State of california were endeavoring to prevent the proposed Sales Tax from applying to cities. The monthly reports of the Chief of Police,Fire Chief,~unicipal ~udge and City Cl~rk for the month ending June 50th,195~ were submitted and accepted with the thanks of ~ayor Cuinlan for the officerS' promptness in a~tending to this duty. Claims in the amount of $148.50 Were next presented to the council for payment;- W.H.Brownlee , new checkwriting machine,Safeguard Chechwriter sales Co A.Detomasi poisoning rat~w~'~ 4.00 John Corso removing garbage $11.00 G,E.Leverton re~airing three city typewriters ~25.00 Bank of South San Francisco cashing three warrants Total $148.50 The. claims having been audited by the finance committee councilman Lloyd moved they be paid. The motion ewas seconded by councll~'~an Boido and regularly carried. City attorney Coleberd asked for authorization of the council to order printing d~ne in connection with the new beer and business: en's licenses. Authorization given. There being no further business before the board councilman Lloyd moved to adjourn until Monday evening, August 7th,1955,~t 7;SO o'clock p.~.
