This meeting was called to order at ?;Z0 o'clock p.m,,by ~ayor Reese Lloyd. Roll call £ound all members of the city council present,as :~'ollows;- C ounci lmen,¥.Boido ,R. Lloym, ~:~.~'inucciani ,R.Tibb et ts, JosePh ?. ¢~uinlan. The minutes of the previous meeting were :,~ead. There being no errors or omissions they were approved-as read. Levio Raaffaelli, fireman in engine house l:o..1, made written application for a leave of absences from duty from and commencing ~f~Y lst,and ending ~ay 31st,inclusive, to visit eastern relatives, On motion hy council~:~n Tibbetts,seconded by Councilman i'!inucciani and regul~rly carried the the leave was granted, without salary. A oom~nunication was received,from the Veterans of. Foreign Wars and the American Legion, stating individuals representing themselves as members of various i'eteran organizations sponsoring the sale of cards,i~'~signia,etc, are hurtful to the merchants cf the ~'ity of ':~outh ~an Francisco, causing the loss of funds and unnecessary expense, and requested the ci~ty to draft an ordinance prohibiting the sale of poppies,cards, and other veteran Insignia without the written ~ermi~;sion of the 'Chief of ~olice. C~m:~unication accepted and ordered placed on f~le. ~e poolroom license ~f l~.2,1calde,ll~ Grand A~enue,was revoked and the clerk instructed to n~ke out a re£und check of ~[i~.00 in his favor. The application of A.Garcia for a poolroom license,~c.ll~ Grand 2venue v~'as granted. Inthe n~tter of lights o' i!~awthorne Place requested by pro?erty owners there Councilman Tibbetts stated he woulm look into the matter further and try and secure the desired lights. 0Nmotio~'~ by Councilnan i~iinuceiani and regularly carried Robert Bisagno was appointed to drive the fire tr~ck in the place of Fireman l~aeffaelli for the month of Nay,at a salary of $1~. There being no furthe~ business councilman ~ibbetts moved to adjourn until ~onday at ~;Z0 o'clock p.m. evening,Apr.il ~0th,19Z4,The motion was second, ed by councilman ~oido and regularly carried.
