The regular meeting of the City Council of the Cit.v of So~th San Francisco was held
in the city hall !.ionday evening, October 7th,1935.
The meetin~ was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by I~:iayor Reese Lloyd.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found al! members of the council present, as follows:-
Councilmen V.Boido,Reese Lloyd, J.F.Mager,~.Minucciani,R.Tibbetts.
The minute~ of the orevious meetin~ were read. There being no errors or omissions
Councilman Minucciani moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by councilman
Mager and regularly carried.
An apv~lication was received i~rom Jc~ ~.Mulpeter,HoteI Brayton,$an Francisco, requ~
in~ ~ermiss~on from the city council to erect a sign advertisinM h~s hotel on lots ~ and
Block ~'Q" Peck's Subdivision of South San Francisco, having secured the permission of the ow~
R.0.Burnett. The location is on the west side of the Bayshore Boulevard,south of Chapman Aw
On motion by Councilman Mager,seconded 0y Councilman Minucciani . the desired permission was
granted -.~rovided all ordinances pertaining to, billboards be complied with,and no advertising
other than the Hotel Brayton be '!~laced upon the sign, which is to be l0 x Z5 feet in dimensi~
A communication was received £rom the Portugaese-American Citizens Club requesting
permission to ho~ ~. d~ce ~n Fraternal Hall,Sa~urday evening, October 12,19Z8, from 8;~0 p.~
to 1;JO a.m. On motion by ~ouncilman Minucciani, seconded by Councilman Tibbetts and regula~
carried the permit was granted.
An application to operate a gasoline service station at 221 Oayshore Highway was
received from the Onion 0il Company. On motion by Councilman Minucciani seconded by Councilm~
Tibbetts and regularly carried, the desired permit was granted.
Applications to distribute handbills under ordinance No.185 of this city were rec~
from W.L.~,~artin,State Theatre, Blum's Adw~etising Agency, and Joe Penna. All applications
granted.
A communication v.,as received from ~rank A.Bloom,Secretary f t~e Peninsula League
California Municipalities, announcing that the next meeting of the Peninsula Division would 1
held in Palo Alto,Thursday evening, October l?th,19Z~,at 6;Z0 o'clock p.m., and requested
each city send in the number of persons who desired to attend. I~yor Reese Lloyd asked the
Council and other city officers how many could be in attendance, and nine signii'ied their
intention to be present.
The i~acific Gas & Electric Company a~lied for permission to open a trench in "B"
North of Third Street,a trench in Aspen Avenue east from Linden Avenue, and to open cross
trenches in the intersection of Baden and Spruce Avenues. Referred to Councilman Tibbetts an~
the desired permissio~ granted.
The monthly r.~orts of the Fire Chief,Building Inspector, Chief of Police, Health
0f~icer, City Treasurer, City Judge and City Clerk, for the month ending Se~tember
were submitted, and on motion by Council?-,'an Minucciani, seconded by Councilman Tibbetts and
regularly carried, were accepted. Mayor Lloyd thanked the city of£icers for their ?rompt~
in attendin~ to this duty.
Councilman Minucciani introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco
ado?ting a Ma~ of South San Francisco, compiled from the records and surveys by George A.Eme,
County ~urveyor in 1928,showing the streets of Lt~Jor Importance in the City of Sou~h San Fra~
The resolution was adopted by the votes o£ all the members o£ the City Council, as follows;-
Ayes, Comacilmen, V.Boido,R.Lloyd, J.F.Mager,M.Minucciani,R. Tibbetts.

The claims having been audited by the finance committee Councilman Tibbetts moved they
be paid. The motion was seconded by councilman I~finucciani and regularly carried.
Under the head of unfinished business City attornay Coleberd stated the proposed resol-
ution to establish a uniform fire call of ten blasts,repeated twice was not yet ready.
,There was no reoort of the city council and the health officer in the matter of the
sanitary arrangement proposed f§r the Di Fillippi manure pile.
In the matter of the recom~meudation of the South San Franciscm Chamber of Commerce to
construct a sidewalk on the west side of Linden Avenue, after discussion it was laid over till
the next meeting,as ',~:as the protestation to repair Linden Avenue South.
The oroDosed ordinance to amend ~)rdinance No.21,section 41,to reduce tax oenalties not being
ready,action will be taken at a ~'uture meeting.
Under the head of new business the clerk w~s instructed to write all merchants advertis-
ing in this city to procure the signatures, of persons who desire advertising matter let at their
homes, before commencing distributing.
Mayor Lloyd stated members of the City Co~mcil would attend a meetin~ of county legislative
bodies of San l~[ateo at County Administrator Kellogg's office,Wednesday morning,October 9,at l0
o'clock A.Di.
Engineer Kla~-~sen re~,orted W.P.A.projects in San ~,h~teo County are at a standstill at
present. He will investigate with a view to the possibility of~the County re-s~rfacing and
repairin~ Linden Avenue Southland Cit~ Attorney Ooleberd v. ill~~ request u~on the Board of Supervisors todc
~ ~. ~%~. application for a ~ermit~s received from Santini & Roccucci to modernize the front
of t~eir store,306 Grand Avenue,at an estimated cost of $1000.Plans submitted by the BuilAing
Inspecter and approved and the permit sranted.

wonderful trip.. There being no further business Councilman Tibbetts moved to adjourn until the
