HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1936-03-09 REGULARLY ADJOURNED I~IEETING OF THE CIT~i COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, HELD MONDAY, MARCH 9TH,1936. was held in A regularly adjourned meeting of the city council of the City of South San Francis¢ the city hall ~onday evening, ~arch 9th,1936. This meeting was called to order by ~ayor Reese Lloyd at 8 O'Clock P.~. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following members of the council present;- Councilmen, V.Boido,R.Ll~yd, E.~inucciani~ R.Tibbetts. Absent, Councilman, J.F.mager. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions Councilman Einucciani moved they be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by 8ouncilman Tibbetts and regularly carried. Applications for positions on the April election board were received from Antionette Kozlowski and Lita Lloyd Kelehner. The aDplications were accepted and ordered placed on file. A communication was received from W.A.Ryan, requesting permission to operate a Jitney service between the east side of Nission Road and W.P.Fuller & Company, operating from 8 A.~. to 12.~5 A.N.,each day,at fi~e cents per passenger per trip, and to furnish a public liability insurance bond in any amount the council might require, and in any company the counc~ desires. Communication accepted and laid over for investigation by the city attorney. J.C.Greene and Chas Richardson applied for a permit to operate a used car business at 218 Bayshore Highway. Laid over for investigation. In the matter of the Colma and ~aden Creeks drainage canal, or channel, bids for straightening and confining said creeks having been opened on the 24th day of February, 1936~ the City of South San Francisco being sponsor for the project,having applied to the W.P.A for assistance, and hawing been allotted the sum of $98000, it was considered advantageous to both the City of South San Francisco and the County of San ~ateo to jgint~y assume the assume responsibility for the money advanced for the project,said County of ~an Nateo having agreed to advance the sum of $2~000 and the City of South San ~ancisco to bear the cost of engineeri~ incurred and engineering to be incurre~t was decided to reject all bidm and the City of Sou1 San Francisco and the County of San ~a~e~assume responsibility for such money as will not be furnished by the Works Progress Administratio~ Accordingly Councilman Boido introduced~a resolution of the City of South San t~ancisco rejecting all bids for furnishing equipment and labor to the City of South San Francisco for the work of straightening and confining a portion of Colma Creek and a portion of Oaden Creek. The resolution was adopted by the votes of the following members of the City Council;- Ayes, Councilmen, V.Boido, R.Lloyd, N.Ninucciani,R.Tibbetts. Noes, Councilmen, None. Absent, Councilman,J.F.Nager. The motion was seconded by Councilman Tibbetts and regularly carried. Under the head of unfinished business the application of Mrs. ~'arder for a restauran license was laid over,as was the application of G.H.Thomson for permission to display Daylight signs. The request of the California State Auto Asso. for an opinion from Mr. Coleberd on the request of J.6arcia for a refund of auto tax on his ~ar., was laid over on request of the City Attorney. ~ Under the head of New Business ~ayor Lloyd stated he had been in touch with the Ear Street Railroad Company with reference to the swith at ~agnolia Avenue,and had been assured th swith would be removed entirely in the very near future. There being no further business Councilman Einucciani moved to adjourn until Tuesda evening,~arch 10~ 1938,at 8 'clock. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried.
