The regular meetinr7 ne ~e City Cotuncil of th.e City of South~ gan ~ ranczsco ,,vas held in th.e city hall Tuesday evening, September 8th, 19S~. The meeting was caller to order at 8 o' clock p.m.b.¥ P~.a¥or D.W.Ratto. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following mem~:ers of the council present;-as follows;- Councilmen, V.Boido, j.~ .i'~i~.~_,~_, ~.~.;;~znucczanz,D.W.Ratto, Absent, Councilman, A.J.Eschelbach. The minutes of the previous meeting were read. There being no errors or amissions they were approved as read. A co~mm~ication was received from C J.Partridze Co., a~_,zn~ permission to erect a two- sided AdvertisgnE Si~_ Bulletin Structure on Lots 23 and 24, [)loc]c 148, adjoinin~ L~ Avenue and ~ayshore H$2thway, and statinz ohe company has t~.e permission of the lot owners to erect the struc~:ure if the City of South San Francisco a!lowz the permit. John Tacchi, Chairman of the Dance Co~ittee 'of the Italian-~erican Citizen~ Co~cil of San i¥iateo Co~nty applied for pe~ission to hold a dance on Saturday eveninu, October ~4, 1936, from 9 p.m. to one A.M., enclosing a five dollar bill for extra police protection. On motion b]~ Co~cilman },~inucciani,seconded by Counc~!man i,iager and rezu!arly carried the permit was granted. Charles Sh~an, Thomas l[otel, 891 Mission Street,a?}lied for a permit to operate a taxi cab ~d automobile service at and from 115 Grand Avenue, t. is city. He is an honorably dis cha_~ed soldier of the United States Army. Laid over for investigation and referred to City attorney Coleberd. A communication was received, from Doctor W.l~,i. Dickie, Director of Public Niealth, State of galifornia, requestinT that the city send the health officer to the League of California !{unicipalities Convention at S~ta Monica for the League convention. Accepted and placed on file. Avenue Applications for positions in the Oranle'park as laborer or assistant Gardener were received from Jo}~m Colombo and DOmenico ?~{altoni. Applications ordered placed on file. A conmunication was received from E~mond S.q-illette, l,{ayor of Santa }donica, cordially invitinq all the city officials of South San Francisco to attend the convention of t~e League of California 1,~icipalities at Santa Monica, Septe~oer 9,10,11,1~,1936. Accepted and ordered placed on file. J.V.Ron made application Per permission to make alterations in the old Peter Lind Boildin?,2i7 Grand Avenue, to the smount of ',~1500. 0n motion by Co, clean I,iager,seconded by Co, clean },{!~aciani ~d regularly carried permission was lranted. The mouthy reports Of the Building InsDector, Fire Chief, Chief of Police~ Health Officer, City Judge, City Treasurer and City Clerk for the month ending Au~:ust 31st,1935, were sui~mitted and accepted and filed. Fire Chief Welte submitted a report of the proceedingsof the Pacific Coast Associatioa of Fire Chiefs in detail, held in Seattle,WashinGton, from Monday, July 80th, to Thursday, July 23,1}36, and also a report of ~he proceedings of the Fire Chief's Educational Tour Toronto,Canada to Au~st let. Councilman Mater introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco fivin~ the tax rate on the original corporate boundaries of the Cit%~ of South San Francisco at ~1.~ per Hundred Dollars valuation, and on the land annexed to the ,~ity o~ South San Francisco March 13,191~ at $1.22 per ~undred dollars assessed valuation, for the fiscal year, 1936-1937.
