CALL AND WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL ~EETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO. Pursuant to call and waiver of notice of special meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco,of which the following is a copy;- We, the undersigned, members of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, hereby call a special meeting of said City Council to be held in the ~ouncil chamber in th. City Hall on Saturday,the 29th day of May, 193V, at the hour of 9;1§ o'clock A,M. for the purpose of approving the appointment of police officers for the City of South San Francisc, and for the additional purpose of acting upon the question of an appearance~in the case in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of San Mateo, entitled THE PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND TEL~i~RAPG COM~ANY, a corporation, Plaintiff, VS.~CITY OF SOUTH ; FRANCISC0,a municipal corporation,Defendant, the same bein~ number 27096 in said Superior Court, and for such other business as may regularly come before said City Council; and we hereby waive notice of said meeting and consent to the transaction thereat of any and al such business as may regularly come before said meeting, Dated ~'~ay 29,1937 D.W.Ratto, A. Ma:~er Victor Boido" the City Council of the City of South San Francisco assembled in special session in the Oouncil chamber of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco in the City Hall Saturday, ~ay 29th, 1937, at the hour of 9;15 o'clock A.M. This meeting was opened at 9;15 o'clock A.M. by Mayor ~.W.Ratto. Roll Call. Roll call found all the members of the City Council present, as follows;- Councilmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, J.F.~ager, M.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. A communication was received by Chief of Police Louis Bellone from the Baden Kennel Club requesting that C.D.Rush, N.Lazzari,Chas. Shurk, John Fambrini,Wm.J.De Vanie,Mike Lamut! and Wm.C.Donovan be denutized as South San Francisco police officers,having been engaged for duty at the Dog Track4~Couhcilman Boido~ moved that the appointments be made. The motio~ was seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried. A communication was received by Chief of police Belloni from L.O.Hardy Jr.,requesting that Ralph Heuschel,R.R.Sharkey, Lodis Alfano, Pete ~a~nag~,Charles Lema,Bendo Papini and L.G.Hardy Jr., be .appointed Deputy Police 0fficers,'~MoVed.-by Councilman Boido, seconded bl Councilman Minucciani and rezularly carried the appointments were made. Councilman Eschelbach moved that the 8ity of So~th Sa~ Franc~sco pay no salary to the above named deputies. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carri~ ~hief Belloni was requested by the Oaden Kennel Club to attend each meeting in unifor~ to direct the deputies himself. He.~explained he was short of men on account of sickness and would be unable to do mo. ~ayor ~atto stated it was not necessary for the chief to be there and advised him to select one of the men to act as director of the dupities. Referring to suit of the Pacific Tel & Tel Company a~ainst the City of South Sa~ Fran. f6r a refund of taxes collected by this city on account of the overvaluation of their prop~ by the State Board or'Equalization Councilman ~ager moved that City Attorney Coleberd be appointed to represent this city at the hearinT of the suit. The motion was seconded by Councilma/n ~inucciani and regularly carried. ~ The City Clerk was in~cted to order four more °ets of plans and specifications for the Club House on 0ranT~Trom the city engineer, all on hand having been given out, Chief of $olice °ellon~ reported the police department car was in bad shape and a new one should be purchased. After consultation over the defects of the present car Council man Esch~lbach moved the city attorney be requested to draw up a resolution ordering the purchase of a new Buick car. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly mar~ Councilman Eschelbach reported that Latham Company road to their plant was in bad co~ and should be repaired;that if the city would repair half the street the Latham Company wo~ take care of the other half. The cost to the city would amount to approximately $~00. The matter was referred to the City Engineer. There being no further business Councilman Minucciani moved to adjourn.
