Purpose of the meeting:
1. Call to Order. TIME: 5:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call. PRESENT: Councilmembers Gupta, Matsumoto and
Normandy, Vice Mayor Addiego and
Mayor Garbarino.
ABSENT: None.
3. Public Comments—comments are limited to items on the Special Meeting
Agenda.
None.
4. Agenda Review
Councilmembers determined the questions and order that would be uniformly used in the interviews
heard at Item No. 5.
Council interviewed applicants under Item No. 5, heard Closed Session Items, recessed and returned
to Hear Item 6. At the close of Item No. 6, Council returned to Closed Session.
5. Interview applicants for Planning Commission:
5:00 p.m.: Daina Rose Lujan
5:10 p.m.: Sam Shihadeh
5:20 p.m.: Charles Stewart
5:30 p.m.: Aristides Ruiz
5:40 p.m.: Francisco Vieira Jr.
5:50 p.m. Norm Faria
6:00 p.m.: Mark Nagales
6:10 p.m.: Kate MacKay
6:20 p.m.: Christopher Cairo
Council interviewed the applicants identified above.
6. Discussion and appointment of applicants to the Planning Commission.
Council may appoint three (3) applicants to terms to expire December 31, 2018
and one (1) applicant to a partial term to expire December 31, 2016.
Discussion and appointment of the applicants to the Planning Commission followed under the
specifications that Council could appoint three (3) applicants to terms to expire December 31, 2018
and one (1) applicant to a partial term to expire December 31, 2016.
Motion— Councilwoman Normandy/Second—Vice Mayor Addiego: to appoint Daina Lujan, Aristides
Ruiz, and Norm Faria to respective Planning Commission terms to expire December 31, 2018.
Unanimously approved by roll call vote.
Motion— Councilwoman Matsumoto/Second— Councilwoman Normandy: to appoint Mark Nagales to
a Planning Commission partial term to expire December 31, 2016. Unanimously approved by roll
call vote.

Recess: 7:01 P.M.
