He stated the show is becoming more popular each year and is now the largest of its kind in the country, being advertised over the NBC hook-Up and United Press! that the cost: of the show is about $14,000.00 and the various in- dustries, banks, etc. are getting behind the show in sharing the expenses~ in an en- deavor to raise about $10,000. Mr. E. P. Kauffmann spoke on behalf of the show, its benefit to the community and the youth of the country~ that he is on the committee to raise $1000. in South San Francisco, and unless financial assistance is given these shows, it will be hard forthe Stock Show to continue. Councilman Mager said we should give, as the show is a benefit to the youth of the country. Councilman Eschelbach said he was in favor of assltlng them inasmuch as the city has not been asked to donate to any of the ten previous shows. Mayor Ratto said he was in favor of the move but it was a case of £tnauces. Councilman Mtnucciani also said he was in favor of the show, but that the ftnsnces of the city were low. He said it would be O. K. to give the police and fire protection, but he did not know where the money was coming from. Haake~, agent for the Hartford Insurance Company addressed a letter to the council r~ga?di_ng the General Liability policy 'covering city property, showing one policy with an annual premium of $962.95 or the same coverage for a three year period for $2,599.96, a saving of $288.88. Councilman Mager said he was opposed to writing the policy in one comPany. He said when insurance men were sitting in at the meeting they did not think it advisable to write the insurance for three to five years, as conditions may arise wherein we might effect a saving by not writing it for longer then one year. He said he does not object to the three year policy but wants them written in two companies, that the Hartford has a certain group of insurance now and these two policies should be written in another company, at the same time accomplishing the saving. Mayor Ratto said it is only one policy, the city to accept either the one or three year term. Councilman Eschelbach moved that the general liability be taken for three years as presented. The motion was seconded by Councilman Botdo and carried. Councilman Mager did not vote. The claim in the amount of $1299.98 for the first year's payment on this three year policy was pre- sented with the letter and the same was passed by the finance committee for payment, Councilman Boido introduced a resolution of the city of South San F~ancisco pro- riding for holding a general municipal election in said city on the 12th day of April, 1938.
