HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1938-08-23494 REGULARLY ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 23,1938. A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall, Tuesday evening, August 23,1938. This meeting was called to order at ?;~0 o'clock p.m. by Mayor A.J.Eschelbach. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the City Council present,as follows;- Councilmen, V. Boido,A.J.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani, D.W. Ratto,Rod Tibbetts. The reading of the minutes of the three previous meetings was dispended with. Mayor Eschelbach asked the board of Councilmen what action to take regarding the bids for cleaning Colma Creek and channels. The Oity Clerk received word from the County Clerk in the morning that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors had agreed in session to stand for half the expenses of cleaning the creeks after what the State donates. Engineer Klssen stated he had been to the Court House at Redwood City and learned thatthat was the offer of the Board of Supervisors. Mayor Eschelbach and other members of the council stated that the supervisors had originally allotted the sum of $?500 as their share of cleaning the Coles Creek and adjacent channels, The Mayor said he believed the city could hold them to the allottment. City attorney Coleberd said he -as going to l~dwood City to-morrow to confer with Assistant District Attorney Sulliva_n~n the matter,and believed his influence with the supervisors might be beneficial to thi~ city's interests. It was agreed to postpone granting the award of contract for the cleaning of the ditches until the city hears from the State Engineer's office at Sacramento on the city's request for aid under the flood control act. Engineer Klassen stated the contracts called for 35 days time in which the city might award the contract. GAS AND ELactric ordinances. ORDINANCE NO. Councilman Minucciani introduced an ordinance of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, granting a franchise to the Pacific Gas & Electric Company to distribute and sell electricity in the City of South San Francisco. Councilman Boido introduced an ordinance of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, granting a franchise to the Pacific Gas & Electric Company to distribute and sell gas in the City of South San Francisco. The ordinance had its firs~ title reading and was laid over to come up under the regular orde~ of business at the next regular meeting .of the City Council. City Attorney Coleberd announced that a meeting should be held Wednesday eveningAugust 24,1938, to introduce the bond election ordinance. There being no further business before the board Councilman Minucclani moved to adjourn unttil Wednesday evening, August 24,1935, at 8 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by Councilman Ratto and regularly carried.
