A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening,' AU6~st 29,193~. This meeting was called to order at eight o'clock p.m. by Mayor A.J.Eschelbach. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all the members of the council present,a~ follows;- Councilmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbaoh,M.Minuooiani, D.W.Ratto, Rod Tlbbetts. The minutes of the previous six meetings were read. ?here being no errors or omissions, they' were approved as read. A petition signed by twenty-five residents in the vicinity of the new CITY PARE ADDITIon was received. In it the residents and propoerty owners protested against the dust and dirt condition caused by the contractors grading for the new addition. The city council had no jurisdiction over the contractor, but instructed the City Clerk to inform the So.S.F.Land & Improvementof the matter and advised that the petitioners also contact the company and make their complaint there. Astatement was received from the DIVISION of HIGHWAYS , Sacramento, showing the amounts of money expended on city streets for the period ending June 30,1938. Accepted and placed on file. A communication was received from f~he South lanFrancisco. Land & Improvement Company grafting permission to the city or its agents to excavate channels and other work in the Colma Creek projects'. Communication accepted and placed on file. An invitation was received from the 80CIEDAH MUTUALISTA MEXICANA, #MORELOS# TO ATTEND their celebration and dance on September 1Oth, 1938. The invitation was accepted by the City Council. Mayor Eschelbach asked the Assistant City Engineer , Klassen if the low spot at the tennis court had been taken care of. The e~lneer stated it would be. The Mayor asked the engineer about the acceptance of the ..Linden Avenue paving job. The engineer stated the work was not done according to specifications and he was unable to accept it.After much discussion it was regularly moved and carried that the city clerk write, the Union Paving Company notifying them to complete their job or the city will do it and deduct the cost from the balance due them. On motion by Councilman Minucciani, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, the City Attorney was instructed to bill or request the County of San Marco to forward the $5000 allotted to the City of South San Francisco for their of the reconstructing Linden Avenue South, ORDINANCE N0.196. Ordinance No.196 of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco granting the Pacific Gas and Electric Company a franchise to distribute electricity in the City of South San Francisco had its second reading and was adopted as an ordinance of the City of 8outh San Francisco by the following vote;-- Ayes, Councilmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach,M.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts. Ordinance No.19? of the City of South San Francisco granting a franchise to 'the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to distribute gas within the City of South San Francisco, had its second reading and was adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San Francisco by the following vote;- Ayes, Councilmen, V. Boido, A.J.Eschelbach~, M.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto, Rod Tibbetts. Noes, Councilmen, None. Absent, Councilmen,None. Attest Daniel MoSweeney City Clerk. An ordinance of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco creating a planning commission for the City of South San Francisco,had its second reading and was passed and adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San Francisco by the following vote;-. Ayes, Councilmen, V.Boi~o, A.J.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani, D.W.Ratto,Rod. Tibbetts. Noes, Councilmen,None. Absent, Councilmen,None. Attest Daniel McSweeney City Clerk. City attorney Coleberd announced that he was p~eparing copies of all resolutions, forms, ordinances and other matters in connection with the forthcoming bonding election in the city, and submitting the same to the bonding firm of ORRICK,DAHLQUIST,NEFF & HERRINGTON, and recommended the passage of a resolution vacating RESOLUTION #D#,adopted August ~2,1938.The resolution was introduced by Councilman Minucciani,and was adopted by the votes of all the members of the City Council,as follows;- Ayes, Ccuncilmen,V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach~M.Ninucciani,D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbette. RES.NO.682 ~ESOLUTION #D' --683, A resolution of the City 0ouncil of the City of South San Francisco submitting to the electors of the city the proposition to acquire land for a ~entral fire station, a central fire station adequate to the needs of the cityt equipment therefor,a combination pumping engine and hose wagon, and an aerial ladder truck with a 65 foot ladder, was introduced by Councilman Boido and was adopted by the votes of all the members of the City Council, as follows;- Ayes, Councilmen,V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, M.Min~cciani,D.W.Ratto,Rod Tiboetts, Noes, Councilmen,None. Recorded in Book of Resolutions, Vol.3, at page The matter of the rate of interest which the proposed should carry was taken up, and action postponed to a meeting of the council on August 31,1938, at which time the tax rate will be sez. Councilman Minucciani announced that he had prepared specification for painting certain parts of th city hall and submitted the same to the city attorney. There being no further business Councilman Ratto moved to adjourn until Wednesday evening, August 3 31,1938, at 8 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by Councilman TlbOetts and regularly carried.
