A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held ~in the City Hall, Monday evening, Lianuary 9th,1939. This meeting was called to order at ~ o'clock p.m. by i~ayor A.J.Eschelbach. ROLL CALL. ~ Roll call found all members~ of~ the City Council present, as follows;- Councilmen, V.Boido,A.J.Eschelbach, N.N!inucciani, D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts. The reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with.· City Attorney Coleberd announced he had prepared an ordinance for the board's consideration cove~ing .and regulating t!e movements, ~,ousing and conditions pertaining to trailers,camp cars in camps and on private property. Councilman ~Snucciani dntroduced the ordinance, which had its firs~ reading and was la~d ove~ to be discussed by the members of the counci'l. The city attorney stated he would firnish a copy to each member of the council t~ study and recommend alterations where,ver thought necessary. Mayor ~schelbach stated that D~. Wald had inquired as to whether a horse barn could be built~ On his property,hear his house,with tl~e city's permission. The city council saw no objections to the building in the region designated. In the matter of considering the reconstruction of the Billboard ordinance, postponement was taken~ on account of the company's representative being in the East on business, and would not return for about a month. An application for a jitney bus license was received from Ragnar Rodvold. No bond accompanied the a{0plication and the application was laid over. Councilman ~oido stated he heard rumors to the effect that the Market Street RailWay Compamy was about to abandon its tracks,and service. He stated the Ryan Jitney Company had an application on file for a license to operate from South San Francisco junction to the industrial plants, Swift and Company's~ etc., and that Mr. Ryan agreed to furnish a ~0000 bond. He.reqdested that the city clerk write the ~arket Street Railway Company and inquire as to their intentions regarding the continuation of tie street car service. So ordered. ? Councilman Tibbetts proposed ti-at the salary of street sweeper Charles Lema be raised i'rom ~$1~0 a month to ,~l~0~ and so moved. The motion was seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried. Councilman Ttbbetts reported that matters concerning the regulation of the new pound wer~ under way, and tl'~e printing of oz~dinances and regulations being attended to.
