HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1939-08-14REGULARLY ADJOURNED MEETING OF TP~ CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, HELD MONDAY, AUGUST,14TH,1939. A regularly adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the city Hall, Monday, August 14th,1939. This meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Ma~or A.J.Eschelba~h. ~ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the council present, as follows,- Councilmeh, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto, Rod Tibbetts. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A communi~ation was received from John Fambrini, 540 Third Lane, applying for a position as fire truck driver. The application w~s ordered placed on file. A communi~ation was received from Ed.P.Kauffmann, City Treasurer, stating he was going eas~ and wished ~0 ~ays leave of absence from the State. On motion by Councilman Ti~bet~s,seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried the desired permission was granted. On ins~rU~ctions from the city council City Engineer ~arshall submitted a statement ~stimattng the cost of i~stalling'tOilets at the Butler Road Beach. He estimated hole in the ground toilets and dressing room,14xl4' building, at $200,and sewer toilets carrying water ~nd same size structure $450. Also ~f ordinary earth ~oilets alone are built they could be constructed for $3~0 each. After discussion it was decided to lay the matter over for investigation and lease of ground. Referring to the improvement of East GrandAvenue with W.P.A. forces the cit~ ~gineer submitted a st~atement that the city could buy a ten ton l~cy.?dller.~ from Guerin Brothers for the sum of $500, the purchase of which would save the city much money in rentals. Councilm~n Ratto objected to doing business with Guerin Brothers, considering them unreliable dealers. ~ayor Eschelbach suggested the machine might be secured for about half the amount, and the engineer was instructe~ to confer with the company again. A copy o~f the library budget as proposed was received and accepted by th~ council. The Stat~ Divt~ioni~ighWa~ssubmitted a plan for the widening the Bayshore Highwa~ by ~ecurtng the lots eastward into Division Street, if abandoned. Plans also were s~bmitted showing the pro- posed changes, if satisfactory to the Planning Commission and the City Council. Laid over for considerationJ · In ~he m~atter of bids received for the purchase of a lawn mower Councilman Tibbetts introduced a resolution o~ the City Council of the City of So~th San S'rancisco awarding the bid ~o Chas. Berg Company at their price of $875. The resolution was adopted by the votes of all the members of the City Cobncil, as follows;- Ayes~p Councelmen, V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani,D.W.Ratto, Rod Tibbetts. RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE PURCHASE OF ~§0 GALLON CAPACITY TRIPLE COMBINATION PUMPING~ ENGINE.$~l. Council~nan Minucciani introduced a resolution of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco ~alling for the purchase of a 750 Gallon capacity triple combination pumping engine for the~City of South San Francisco. The resolution was a~opted b~ the votes of all the members of the city council, as follows;- Ayes, Cbuncilmen, V.Boidd, A.o.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani, D.W.Ratto, Rod Tibbetts. Noes, Cbuncilmen, None. Absent,~Councilmen,None. Attest Daniel McSweeney City Clerk. Recorde~ in Book of Resolutions, Vol.~, at page 22B. The date set for the openin~ of bids is September 5,1939, a% 8 G-'clock P.M. ORDINANCE N0.203.. An ordihance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION NO.4 OF OF ORDINANCE N0.202 OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ENTITLED" AN ORDINANCE REGULATING BLASTING OPERATIONS IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND PROVIDING FOR LICENSING OF ~HE SAME," ADOPTED ~UNE12TH,1939,had its second reading and wa~ adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San. Francisco by tile following vote; Ayes, Councilmen V.Boido, A.J.Eschelbach, M.Min~cciani,D.WiRatto,.Rod Tibbetts. Noes, 'Councilmen,None. Absent~ Councilmen,None. Attest Daniel McSweeney Cit~ Clerk. Recorded ih~Book of ordinances, Volume No.2, at page 285. ORDINANCE N0.204. ~ ordinance entitled ''~ AN ORDINANCE A~NDING SECTIONS 8.03,8.04 , 8.05, 8.20. OF ORDINANCE NO.1V1 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR LICENSING OF BUSINESS, PROFESSIONS,TRADES,CALLINGS, AND~OCCUPATIONS IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN M~ANCISCO" adopted MayV,19~4, and by adding a new section to said ordinance to be numbered 8.14a.,had its second reading and was adopted as an ordinance of the City of South San Francisco this 14th day of August,1939,by the following vote;- Ayes, Councilmen,V.~oido, ~.J.Eschelbach, M.Minucciani,D.W.Rat~o,Rod. Claims in the amount of $1044.4~ were next presented to the city council for payment. O0 $1044.48 The claims having been audited by the finance committee councilman Boido moved they be paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly ~carried. There being no further business before the board Councilman Minucciant moved to adjourn until tl~e next regular meeting, Monday, August 21,1939,at 8 o'clock P.M.
