Present: Councilmen Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi, Leo ~erko, Charles Elder, Victor Boido. Absent: None. Meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Mayor Ferko. Reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was dispensed with. Councilman Elder brought up the matter of the Fire House property condemmnation proceedings. He stated the owner had agreed on price of $7,500.00. Therefore, Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi, that this property be purchased for the s~mm of ~7,500.OC. This motion was re~larly carried. Councilman Sani introduced the following resolution: ?~{~RFAS it has pleased Almighty God in his infinite wisdom to take from this life AR~{UR E. ~DERSON, a resident of South San Francisco; and WHEREAS Mr. Anderson was highly esteemed in this community because of his integrity, ability and sound judgment and was, at all times, greatly inter- ested in matters affecting the welfare of the inhabitants of South San Francisco; RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that this city council laments the passing of Mr. Anderson and extends its sympathy to Marie L. Anderson, his surviving wife, in her bout of sorrow; BE IT FURT}.iTfR RFSOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the city council and that a copy be sent to Mrs. Anderson. The foregoing resolution v~as unanimously adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco on the 18th day of April, 1950. Councilman Elder introduced a resolution canvassing the returns and declarina the results of the special municipal election held April llth for the formation of Park Recreation and Parkway District in the city. The results of the election were 3,368 votes in favor of the proposition and 971 votes a~ainst Lhe proposition. This resolution was adm~ed by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution canva.~sing returns and declaring re- sults of general municipal election held April llth. The total vote cast for each candidate was as follows: Adolph Sani Arthur E. Anderson Joseph J. Bracco Jay S. Conley Thomas E. Kay Max T. Petroff Lawrence F. Verna 2097 1308 1670 75S 1507 699 203 This showed Adolph Sani and Joseph J. Bracco as being elected to the City Council. Adolph Sani and Joseph J. Bracco were then sworn in as councilmen by City Clerk Hyland, and took their seats as councilmen. Councilman Boido moved, seconded by CounciLman Elder, that Councilman Sani be appointed Mayor for the ensuing two years. This motion was regularly carried. Councilman Sani then took the chair vacated by retiri~ Mayor Ferko. Mayor Sani expressed his appreciation for being re-elected to the Council and thanked the members of the Council for appointing~him as Major. He stated he would endeavor to handle the affairs of the city for the benefit of the whole co~munity. Mayor Sani appointed the followin~ Commissions: Police Co~mission: Chairman Boido, Bracco, and Cortesi. Fir~ Commission: Chairman Elder, Boido, and Cortesi. Street Commission: Chairman Cortesi, Bracco, and Elder. Finance Commission: Chairman Bracco, Boido, and Elder. Re~presentatives from the Council to the Recreation Commission: Bracco, Cortesi, and Elder. The Mayor to act as ex-officio member on all cormissions. Councilman Elder to act as Mayor in the absence of the Mayor. Chairman Retiring Mayor Ferko was. accorded a standing vote of appreciation at the sugges- tion of Mr. Fred Brown. Retiring Mayor Ferko was called upon for a few remarks by Mayor Sani. Remarks were made by newly-elected Councilman Bracco, followed by Councilmen Cortesi, Boido, and Elder, Treasurer Kauffmann, City Clerk Hyland, and City Attorney Coleberd.
