HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1950-05-29PLACE: TIME: CALL AND WAIVER OF NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO The undersigned, members of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, do hereby call a special meeting of said city council to be held on Monday, the 29th day of May, 1950, at the hour of ~:~5 o'clock p. m., in the c~uncil chamber In the city hall of said city, for the purpose of considering and acting upon a resolution calling a special election to submit to the qualified electors of said city the proposition hereinafter mentioned, which resolution shall provide for the manner of holding said election and shall designate the polling places and shall name the election officers to conduct said election. The proposition hereinbefore mentioned is the following: "Shall the working hours of firemen be reduced from seventy-two (72) hours per week to sixty (60) hours per week, with no reduction of compensation, and the working hours of policemen be reduced from forty-eight (48) hours per week to forty (40) hours per week, with no reduction of compensation, and the working hours of park, street, and miscellaneous emoloyees be reduced from forty~four (~4) hours per week, to forty (40) hours per week, with no reduction of compensation?" We hereby waive notice of said special meeting and consent to the transaction there- at of all such business as may regularly come before saidspecial meeting. Dated: May 29, 1950. Elder Adolph Sani Joseph Bracco Emilio Cortesi SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL HELD MONDAY, MAY 29, 1950 Council Chambers, City Hall ~:~5 P. m. 462 OALL TO ORDt~: RESOLUTION NO. 1538 SPECIAL ELECTION: PRINTING ORDINANCE NO. 297: INDUSTRIAL SURVEY: CITY MANAGER VACATION: MAYOR OF ROME--VISIT: ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was called to order at 4:45 P. m. by Nayor Sani. Present: Boido, Elder, Sani, Bracco, Cortesi. Absent: None. Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution calling a special election. Motion was duly made, seconded, and carried, that this resolution be read by title only. The City Clerk then read title of the resolution--SA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO SU~IT TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY A PROPOSITION TO REDUCE THE WORKING HOURS OF CERTAIN OFFICERS AND ~2~PLOYEES OF SAID CITY." This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council. The Enterprise-Journal submitted a quotation of $250.00 for printing five hun- dred b~oks, with cover, of ordinance No. 297. Motion was duly made, seconded, and carried, that the Enterprise-Journal proceed with the printing of these five hundred books. The City Nanager read letter he had prepared to be sent to the voters explaining the reason for the special election. Same was discussed, and certain changes were suggested. After this letter is run off by the printer, proof of same is to be submitted to the council members. Councilme~ Elder b~ought up the matter of industrial survey in the county. He had prepared a letter to be sent out by the North County Council and asked the opinion of the council whether this letter should be sent to the mayors or the city councils. It was suggested that same be mailed to the city councils. City Manager Larwood stated he would like to take a weeks vacation commencing June 8th. Motion was duly made, seconded, and carried, that the city manager be granted a weeks vacation. As the Mayor of Rome paid a visit to the city recently, the city attorney thought it would be well to show-our appreciation for this visit. He stated he would draw up the necessary resolution. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Bracco, and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to June 5th, 1950 at 8 p. m. Time of Adjournment - 5:30 P. m.
