MOLINU: POLICE GUARD APPOINTMENTS: PERSONNEL BOARD-RESID~T TIME LIMIT: Council Ch~bers, City Hall 8p.m. Present Absent: Councilmen Victor Boido, Charles K. Elder, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi Councilman Joseph Bracco The meeting was called to order at 8:10 p. m. by Mayor Sani. City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all councilmen, Mayor Sani asked if there were any errors or omissions. There being none, the minutes were approved as submitted. The Planning Commission recommended the granting of use permits to the following: M. Brignardello George & Lowean Robinson Strawther Co. Inc. M~. B. Pianca Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, that the recommendations of the Planning Commission be accepted. The Planning Commission denied the granting of a use permit to Antonio Molinu for the construction of a garage and storage building at the south- west corner of Orange and Commercial Avenues. Motion was made by Council- man Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Planning Commission, denying use permit to Antonio Molinu, be accepted. Communications were received from Chief of Police Belloni appointing the following men as guards: Stanley Rulka Eugene Merritt John Marshall William T. Jones Armour & Co. Armour & Co. Armour & Co. Sterling Building Co. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Cortesi, that the appointments as submitted by Chief of Police Belloni be confirmed, the men to act without remuneration from the city. Th~s motion was regularly carried. Communication was received from the Personnel .Board recommending that the present eighteen month resident requirement for Police Officers and Fire- man be waived for a period of one year, with the provision that residence be taken up in South San Francisco within the one year probationary period. This communication was ordered filed. HOUSING AUTHORITY IN LIEU TAXES: Communication was received from the Housing Authority enclosing checks in the amounts of $7088.05 and $1029.25, covering in lieu taxes for Lindenville and Palau Village. Checks were placed in the general fund and communication was ordered filed. CAPE ESPERANCE-IN LIEU TAXES: Check in the amount of $833.75 was received from the U. S. Navy in payment of in lieu taxes for Cape Esperance. Check was placed in the general fund. HOUSE MOVING SANTO CHRISTO SOCIETY: Communication was received from D. J. & T. Sullivan requesting permission to move a building from opposite Fuller's plant to the north line of Oak Avenue. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Council,mn Boido and regularly carried, that permission be granted upon deposit of the neces- sarybond. A. COLOMBO BUSINESS LICENSE: Communication was received from Angelo Colombo requesting license to operate liquor store at 415 Linden Avenue. Motion was made by Councilman Corte~i, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, that permit be granted. CLAIMS: Claims in the amount of $10552.87 were approved by the Finance Committee. On motion duly made, seconded, and regularly carried, claims as submitted were ordered paid. ORDINANCE NO. 312 PUBLIC DANCES: An ordinance regulating public dances came up for the second reading. Motion was made by Councilm~n Elder, seconded by Councilman Boido and regulqrly car- tied, that this ordinance be read by title only as the second reading. City Clerk then read title of ordinance--"AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PUBLIC DANCES IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO". This ordinance was adopted by the fol- lowing vote: Ayes, Councilmen Boido, Elder, Sani, Cortesi; Noes, Councilmen, None; Absent Councilman Bracco. PARKING ORDINANCE: An ordinance amending ordinance No. 296, providing for angle parking on E1 Camino Real between Orange Avenue and Ponderosa Road, was introduced and read in its entirety. RESOLUTION NO. 1637 CORRECTING NO. 1621: Councilman Elder introduced a resolution'correcting typographical error in Resolution No. 1621, providing for the issuance of Series B Sewage Disposal Bonds. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the council present. PECK'S HEIGHTS: Councilman Cortesi asked the Mayor if he had heard anything about Peck's Heights. The May~r stated he had spoken to the proposed builders and told them he was interested in seeing that proper safeguards were provided for the children, and that dwellings should be built on level ground. Also, that streets should be built wide enough to provide travel for fire engines. Councilman Cortesi said the city should not make it anymore difficult for these people than previous build~rs. The Mayor stated mistakes might have been made in the past, but same should not occur again. BRENTWOOD DEED: Mr. Stuller of Francisco Terrace asked what the delay was in the signing of the Brentwood deed. City Manager Larwood stated the Brentwood Company wished to be compensated for this property and it took time to persuade them to deed same to the city free of cost. LOTS 5 & 6 BLOCK 126 WALKER: Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that check be drawn in favor of the California Pacific Title Insurance Co. in the amount of $10,000.00 for payment of a clear title to lots 5 & 6 Block 126, same to be used as a parking lot. PLANNING COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS: Mayor Sani submitted for reappointment to the Planning Commission the names of Mark Maher and Marlo Volonte. Motion was made by Councilman Cortesi, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried, that the appointments as submitted by Mayor Sani be confirmed. HOUSING AUTHORITY APPOINTMENT: Mayor Sani submitted the name of S. Nieri for reappointment to the Housing Authority. Motion was made by Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilm~n Boido, and regularly carried, that the appointment of S. Nieri to the Housing Auth- ority be confirmed. ADJOURNMd~T: On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to Monday, March 19, 1951 at 8 p. m. Time of Adjournment - 8:50 p. m.
