The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P. m. by Mayor Smith.

The first item on the agenda %~s the second reading of the ordinance providing for the coLl~
ion of annexation fees. After brief discussion, Councilman Bosworth moved, seconded by
Councilman Noonan and regularly carried, that the second reading be held over until the
council had an opportunity to go into it at a study meeting and that it be held on the peudJ
agenda.
The next matter on the agenda was the second reading of the ordinance with respect to Burl
Burl ~. Councilman Bosworth moved, seconded by Councilman Lucchio, that it be placed on t~
agenda at this time. Mayor Smith then stated that if there were no objections, the matter
would come up at this time. Councilman Bosworth moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and
regmlarly carried, that the ordinance be read by title only. After City Attorney Lyons rea~
the title of the ordinance, roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilman Noouau, Lucchi~
Smith, Cortesi~ Bosworth.
SAN MATEO COUNTY The next item appearing on the agenda was the matter of a request for appropriations by the
DEVELOPMENT ASSN. Sau Mateo County Development Association. After brief discussion, Councilman Bosworth move~
REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATION: seconded by Councilman Noouau and regmlarly carried, that this matter be placed on the
~ pending agenda.
M & K AND SPERRY & HUT- The n~tter concerning the sperry & Hutchison and M &K requests for spur track crossings wa~
CHISON SPUR TRACK REQUESTS: laid over until the arrival of the representatives of those concerns.
PUBLIC W~RKS INSPECTOR: The matter concerning the employment of a Public Works Inspector, after brief discussion,
$'~0 was placed oVer to the pending agenda.

OEDINANCE:
The next item discussed was a matter of sick leave record of Sergeant Mario Blandiui. Afte~
discussion ~d taken place ~egarding sick leave record as submitted, Councilman Bosworth
moved that the council grant Sergeant Marlo Blaudini extended sick leave iu recognition of
his record in the past. This was seconded by Councilman Noouan and regularly carried, Court
cilman Lucchio voting nay, explaining the reason for his negative vote was due to the fact
t.hat this condition existed prior to his employment with the Police Department. Roll call
vote was requested which ~as as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Noonan, Smith, Cortesi, Bosworth
Noes, CounciLman Lucchio.
CounciLman Bosworth then moved that the City Attorney, while working on the civil service
ordinance, provide iu there some means of acknowledging the additional risk faced by Police
and Firemen in their line of duty. Councilman Noouan suggested a modification of tko motio
as follows: That the City Attorney make a report as to the feasibility of having such a
provision'in the ordinance~ He gave the reason for this action because he believed t.hat th
service connected l~aves comld be recaptu_~ed through the insurance contracts and did not se
why they had not been. Councilman Bosworth amended his motion to include this. After dis-
cussiou Councilman Bosworth restated his motion as follows: "I move that the City Attorney
make a report to the council as to what steps could, be taken iu drafting this new civil
service ordinance to separate frmn the classification of simple sick leave, time off which
is the result of accidents incurred in the line of duty in hazardous occupations." Council
man Noonan seconded the motion which was regularly carried.
At this time Mr. Yarkin from the Associated Home Builders spoke relative to the second read
of the ordinance governing annexation fees, after which it was decided that he would contac
the City Attoruey and the other builders so that theY would have an opportunity to study tb
ordinance with the suggested changes and modifications and then discuss them with the counc

ZONING ORDINANCE:
The next item taken up was the item concerning the revised master zoning ordinance and map
as submitted by the Planning Commission. After the maps had been inspected and a discussi¢
held, Mayor Smith stated that the chair would entertain a motion that this matter be held
over until the second regular meeting in July. Councilman Noonau so moved, seconded by
Councilman Bosworth and regularly carried.

The next Items taken up for consideration were the use permits as submitted by the Plannin~
Commission. Use Permit '~99 was received as applied for by Pasquale Rodota & Len~ Sangeuit
Councilman Bosworth moved, seconded by Councilman Noonan and regularly carried, that the
recommendation of the i'lanning Commission be acc~epted and the permit granted.
Use Permit ~401 was received as applied for by M. J. King. CounciLman LUcchio moved, sec-
ouded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that the recommendation cf the Planning
Commission be accepted and the permit granted.
Use Permit ~403 was received as applied for by the Farm Chemical Co. Councilman Noonan
moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi~ that the recommendation of the Planning Commission
be accepted. After discussion was held on this matter, Councilman Bosworth moved that the
motion be amended to include an instruction to the Planning Commission that they notify th~
residents of Francisco Terrace through their improvement club when the plans are before
them for consideration. Couuci]n~au Noonan accepted the s~endment. Motion as made~, amended
and seconded was regularly carried.
Use Permit ~400 was 'received as applied for by O. D. Hamliu, Jr. Councilman Bosworth move~
seconded by Councilman Noonau and regularly carried, that the recommendation of the Plauni~
Commission be accepted and the permit granted.
Use Permit -/~402 was received as applied for by the Oakland Drive-In Corp. dba Mel's Hambert
Stand. Councilman Cortesi moved, seconded by Councilman Noouan and regularly carried, tha~
the recommendation of the Planning Commission. be accepted and the permit granted.
