Th meeting was called to order by May~r Smith at 7:30 p. m. Present: ent: Councilman Andrew Rocca, Francis Lucchio, Emilio Cortesi, Telford Smith Councilman Richard Gamlen (Councilman Gamlen appeared at 7:43 p.m ncilman Andrew Rocca was appointed Clerk pro-tempore. At the request of Mayor Smith, Director of Public Works Goss gave a report on conditions, also stating that he believed that Bauer-Lesser would continue with their phase of the work in a satisfactory manner. Cou lman Richard Gamlen appeared present at 7:43 p. m. and remained for the duration of the meeting. Ci- Attorney Lyons appeared present at 7:50 p. m. and remained for the of the meeting. Mr. Hewitt of Bauer-Lesser then reported on the slopes in Bu~ Bud #3, sta~;ing that they were in accordance wiih plans. However, they were now ,ving some five feet of the upper part to reduce the slope. Act ng Supt. of Public Works Schweining reported on the progress of clean- in the streets. Mr. Hewitt then remarked on the arrangements which were to be made to leave two separate crews on a standby basis in the event of further storms. Cit Manager McClung reported on the study being made for use of radio communications during storms. He likew±se commended the Street Department for their work. Also discussed was the North County Council meeting to be held, at which time was to be discussed a Flood Control District to benefit the entire area from Burlingame north. The City Manager was also to obtain a letter from Mr. Manion of the firm of Wilsey ard Ham, asking if they wished to make any supplemental change to their drainage report. Councilman Gamlen then moved that the City Manager be instructed to contact appr(~priate State and Federal agencies for the purpose of procuring flood rel2~f in the form of financial aid, or Dther available form, and that he be a .th°rized to execute on behalf of the City of South San Francisco any and ~11 necessary requests and contracts relative to the procurement of such aid, and authority hereby granted to be exercised only as a result of and in connection with emergencies. Councilman Rocca seconded the motion, whic~ was regularly carried. (Councilman Cortesi had previously absented himself from the me, ting). Direqtor of Public ~orks Goss was given authority to dispose of all surplus silt{and soil taken from Colma Creek to Ken Royce, provided he removed it rapidlly. If it was not so moved, then arrangements were to be made to give~t,at no cost to the City, to other parties. It was ordered that the matter of Mayfair Avenue Ditch be placed on the agend~ of February 6, 1956. Chief of Police Belloni asked about the cleaning up of Acacia and Miller Avenu,~s. Director of Public Works Goss ~as instructed to take such action as m£t ht be necessary to put the subdividers on the same basis as Bauer- Lesse: and correct the difficulties.
