NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Govern~nt Code of the State of California, that the City
Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a special meeting on Friday,~December 4, 1970, at 9:30 a.m.
in the Council Conference Room, City Hall, South San Francisco, California.
The purpose of the meeting is to meet with Congressman McCIoskey and tour the areas affected by floods.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ahern at 9:50 a.m.

Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, Frank J. Bertucelli, William A. Borba,
F. Frank Mammini and Warren Steinkamp

At the request of Mayor Ahern, Congressman Paul N. McCIoskey spoke on the matter of
flood control measures which had been taken in other peninsula cities, particularly
with the Menlo Park area.
He then commented on the work done to the present time by the Corps of Engineers with
regard to the matter of Colma Creek and the earliest time which they could start on
the project if one were to be commenced. He likewise explained the plans which were
being considered and the manner in which the construction work was proposed.
Question and answer period then followed at which time Mr. Louis Poletti, 333 El Camino
Real, spoke on the previous plan which had been prepared by Wilsey & Ham and the pro-
posed plan~by the Army Corps of Engineers which would remove from the tax rolls valuable
developed industrial property if the proposed Plan of the diversion of Colma Creek were
to be followed by the Army Corps of Engineers. He suggested that the City take a course
of action in the solution of this matter since it was a problem of a local level which
should be solved locally.
Discussion then followed concerning the matter of the ordinance restricting the building
or developing of properties in the proposed diversion channel end the probably time that
this restriction would be imposed.
Further discussion followed at which time Congressman McCIoskey stated that he would
like to make a field study and, in addition, study both the report from the firm of Wilsey
& Ham and the Army Corpe:~ of Engineers after which a meeting could be held, attended by
both agencies who prepared plans as well as the official staff and anyone else interested
DiscussiOn then followed concerning a time for such a proposed meeting to which Congressman
McCIoskey stated that he would be available any time between January 4 and 15, 1971.
A inspection tour of the flooded areas was then scheduled for Sunday, December 6, 1970,
at which time Congressman McCIoskey stated that he would like to view the areas.
There being nothing further, Councilman Borba moved, seconded by Councilman Mammini
and regularly carried, that the meeting be adjourned.
