HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1971-01-06NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, January 6, 1971, at 5:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Recreation Building, 601 Grand Avenue. South San Francisco, California. Dated: The purpose of the meeting is to tour the Magnolia Recreation Building. Mayor SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 6, 1971 TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: TOUR OF MAGNOLIA RECREATION BUILDING: DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING FUTURE WORK TO BUILDING: ADJOURNMENT: 5:00 p.m. Magnolia Recreation Building, 601 Grand Avenue. Mayor Ahern called the meeting to order at 5:15 p.m. Present: Absent: Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, Frank J. Bertucelli, William A, Borba, and Warren Steinkamp Councilman F. Frank Mammini. Present, as well, were Acting City Manager Laurence Ross, Superintendent of Recreation and Parks Robert Maxey, Commissioners George Coulter, Joseph Manjarrez, Henry Vom Steeg, Philip VanDerLeest. Superintendent of Recreation and Parks Maxey at this time gave to each of those present a Memorandum dated December 2, 1970 concerning the cost estimate for modification to the Magnolia Recreation Center after which he conducted a tour of the entire building and facilities of the Magnolia Recreation Center, pointing out to Council some of the remodel- ing which had already been done and the need for other'work and repairs. As the tour commenced, City Attorney Noonan was noted as being present. Upon conclusion of the tour, the entire group retired to one of the meeting rooms in the building at which time Mrs. Lura Sellick, Secffetary of the Recreation Commission, was present at 6:18 p.m. A discussion then followed among those present and the members of the City Council concerning the matter of future work to be done on the building. At this time, the proposed sketches and architectural renderings of the proposed work were shown and explained to those present by Mr. George Coulter, Chairman of the Recreation Commission. The discussions were concluded by an agreement among the members of the City Council and Recreation Commission to meet again and further discuss the matter. Councilman Borba then moved, seconded by Councilman Steinkamp and regularly carried, that the meeting be adjourned.
