STAT['!ENT ELECTION RESULTS: 8:00 p.m. Little Theater, El Camino High School. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Barba at 8:07 p.m. After presentation of the Flags by the Color Guard of Soy Scout Troop 75, the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. Present: Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, William A. Borba, F. Frank Mammini and Warren Steinkamp Absent: Councilman Frank J. Bertucelli Mayor Borba at this time explained that the Council meets tonight in compliance with the Elections Code and Government Code of the State of California to adopt resolutbns declaring results of the election and to choose a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. City Clerk Rodondi reported that the Certification of Canvass had been received from the County Clerk's office and ihad been noted incorporated in the resolutions prepared for adoption this evening. Councilman Steinkamp stated that he would be pleased to introduce the resolution which was entitled: "A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON APRIL II, 1972." Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, William A. Borba, F. Frank Mammini and Warren Steinkamp. Noes, none. Absent, Councilman Frank ,I. Bertucelli. City Attorney Noonan explained the second resolution declaring results on Proposition A and which was ready for introduction. Councilman Mammini introduced the resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULT OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL II, 1972.!' Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, William A. Borba, F. Frank Mammini and Warren Steinkamp. Noes, none Absent, Councilman Frank J. Bertucelli. City Clerk Rodondi then recorded the Statement of the Results as re- quired by Section 22933 of the Elections Code: A. The whole number of votes cast in the City; B. The Names of the nersons voted for; C. The Measures voted u~on; D. For what office each person was voted for; E. The number of votes given at each precinct to each person and for and against each Measure; F. Mayor Borba extended his congratulations to City Clerk Rodondi In accordance with the Government Code that the Campaign Statement had been filed, City Clerk Rodondi administered the Oath of the Office of City Treasurer to Treasurer-Candidate John J. Bonalanza and delivered the Certificate of Election to him. City Clerk Rodondi, in accordance with Section 22934 of the Elections Code, certified that the Campaign Statements as required by the Elections Code had been filed by Councilman-~andidates Gordon T. Boblitt, F. Frank Mammini and Warren Steinkamp. He then administered the Oath of Office to Councilman-Candidates Boblitt, Mammini and Steinkamp after which he delivered to each person the Certificate of Election. City Clerk Rodondi stated that the next item concerned the nomination of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman Steinkamp moved that Councilman Mammini be nominated to the office of Mayor. Councilman Boblitt seconded the motion which was regularly carried. Councilman Borba then moved that Councilman Steinkamp be nominated to the office of Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman Mammini seconded the motion which was regularly carried. Councilman Borba at this time relinquished the Mayor's Chair and Gavel to Mayor-elect F. Frank Mammini, and offered his support for the coming year. Mayor Mammini at this time stated that the Ilth day of April will be recorded in the annals of history of this City as a day of progressive change, one not brought about by pressures but rather by the voters from all segments of the community. Mayor Mammini at this time thanked his campaign workers, the enthusiasm of the students who contributed their efforts to his campaign and, especially, the voting public for having made all of this possible. Vice Mayor Steinkamp extended his thanks to the people of South San Francisco for the confidence displayed. He stated that he felt this day will be remembered and believed that this City has the capacity and capability for progress and continued progress for many years to come and promised all of his efforts in that direction. Vice Mayor Steinkamp again thanked the voters of the City. Councilman Boblitt extended his gratitude to his family, his campaign manager and to the many people who supported him. He promised to work hard for the City, to see representation from the industrial areas and to study City's monetary contribution to the County. He further com- mented on the City Manager-Council form of government. He concluded by asking those who had become involved because of the election, to remain involved for the betterment of the City. City Clerk Rodondi at this time thanked the voters of South San Francisco for their vote of confidence and expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Rodondi. City Treasurer Bonalanza stated that he wished to thank all of the citizens of the City who showed their confidence in his ability to re-elect him as Treasurer for the City of South San Francisco. -6 - 4118~72 INVITATION TO REMAIN FOR ENTERTA I NMENT: ADO OURNMENT: Mayor Mammilhi stated that after the adj.ournment of the meeting, the Performing Arts Group from El Camino High School would entertain and he invited all present to remain for the show. Councilman Boblitt moved that the meeting be adjourned to an Executive Personnel Session on Thursday, April 27, 1972 at 6:00 p.m., seconded by Councilman Steinkamp and regularly carried.
