HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1974-01-16NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco ~ill hold a special meeting on Wednesday, January 16, 1974, at 7:30 p,m., in the Council Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California. The purpose of the meeting is ,o consider the following; I. Downtown Recreation Facility and related matters 2. Information Referral Center. Mayor Date: January 15, 1974 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 1974 TIME: 7:30 p.m. PLACE: Council Conference Room, City Hall. CALL TO ORDER:_.. The meeting was called to order by Mayor SteinkamD at 7:36 D.m. ROLL CALL: Present: Absent: Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, William A. Borba, Terry J. Mirri and Warren Steinkamp Councilman F. Frank Mammini ILLNESS OF COUNCILMAN MAMMINI: DISCUSSION RE DOWNTOWN RECREATIONAL FACILITY AND RELATED MATTERS: 5-004 Mayor Steinkamp announced that Councilman Mammini, due to illness, would not be present at tonight's meeting. City Manager Alario stated that the first item for Council's attention tonight concerned the matter of the Downtown Recreational Facility and related matters. Lengthy discussion followed concerning this item as well as the Magnolia Center, Orange Memorial Swimming Pool enlargement and appointment of the Director of Parks and Recreation. Discussing the matter in addition to the Mayor, Members of the City Council and City Staff were the following: Messrs. Richard Mil kovich, Acting Director of Parks and Recreation; Frank Prendergast, Henry Vom Steeg and Mrs. Lura Sellick of the Recreation Commission; Phillip Van Der Leest; Mesdames Antoinette Fraschieri; Kay Bregante; Bette Higgins. After discussion and there being no objections, Mayor Steinkamp stated that these matters would be scheduled for a joint meeting of the City Council and Recreation Commission on January 28, 1974 after the Recreation Commission had met and discussed them at their meeting of January 24, 1974. D I SCUSS I ON RE REFERRAL CENTER: Council next took up the matter of the request as received from the South San Francisco, San Bruno Information and Referral Center as contained in their letter of December 28, 1973 regarding a proposed modification of the personnel structure at the Center. I 126 DISCUSSERION RE REFERRAL CENTER: (CONTINUED) ADJOURNMENT: Discussion followed among Members of the City Council, City Staff, representatives of the Center and Mrs. Bette Higgins after which Councilman Borba moved that the matter be held for further study. The motion died for lack of a second. There being no objections, Mayor Steinkamp stated that this matter would be scheduled for the next regular meeting of the City Council to be held on January 21, 1974. There being nothing further, Mavor Steinkamp adjourned the meeting at 9:02 p.m. REspECTFULLY SUBMITTED, * The entries of this Council meeting show the action taken by the City Council to dispose of the item.
