HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1974-11-13158 NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, November 13, 1974, at 8:00 PM in the Council Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California. The purpose of the meeting is to: I. Consider the bids for addition to City Hall - City Council Chambers modifica- tions, PB 74-1, and authorize acceptance, modification or rejection; 0 Consider the bids for Library, Police Building and City Hall Air Conditioning, Heating and Modification, PB 73-3, and authorize acceptance, modification or rejection; 3. Adjourn to executive personnel session to consider an appointment and to instruct the City Attorney regarding a pe~ legal matt~ ~ Date: November 8, 1974 ~~M~ayo~~~2f/~ / /~' z/ ~ t/ /~ TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: CITY HALL ADDITION SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CllW COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 1974 8:00 PM. Council Conference Room, City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Mirri at 8:18 PM. Present: Councilmen Richard A. Battaglia, F. Frank Mammini, Terry J. Mirri, Leo Padreddii and Warren Steinkamp. Absent: None. The first item for consideration by the City Council concerned the bids received for the addition to the City Hall-City Council Chambers modifications. After an explanation by the City Manager regarding the bids and funds available a lengthy discussion followed between the members of the City Council and staff. Mayor Mirri moved that this matter be held in abeyance until the City found out exactly what is going to be happening in the months ahead. Further discussion followed after which Councilman Battaglia, seconded the motion. Roll Call Vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Richard A. Battaglia, F. Frank Mammini, Terry J. Mirri, Leo Padreddii. Noes, Councilman Warren Steinkamp. Absent, none. 159 RESO. NO. 214-74 REJECTING BIDS - ADDITION TO CITY HALL Councilman Padreddii introduced a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS FOR ADDITION TO CITY HALL - CITY COUNCIL C~!AMBERS MODIFICATION (PB-74-1) Roll Call Vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Richard A. Battaglia, F. Frank Mammini, Terry J. Mirri and Leo Padreddii. Noes, Councilman Warren Steinkamp. Absent, none. City Manager Alario then stated that Staff would try to put together a complete report for Council on the matter. RESO. NO. 215-74 AWARDING CONTRACT (ALT. B) FOR LIBRARY, POLICE BLDG., & Cll~ HALL AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING & MODIFICA. The next item for Council consideration was the bids received for the Library, Police Building and City Hall Air Con- ditioning, Heating and Modifications. After an explanation by the City Manager on the bids received, a lengthy discussion followed between the members of the City Council and staff regarding the bids an alternates. Councilman Battaglia then moved that the City reject all the bids and ask for Alternate B, the air conditioning for the balance of the City Hall deleting the Police Station and the Library. After further discussion Councilman Battaglia withdrew his motion. Councilman Battaglia then introduced a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONTRACT (ALTERNATE B), FOR LIBRARY, POLICE BUILDING AND CITY HALL - AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING AND MODIFICATIONS (Project PB-73-3). Roll Call Vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilman Richard A. Battaglia, F. Frank Mammini, Terry J. Mirri and Leo Padreddii. Noes, Councilman Warren Steinkamp. Absent, none. RECESS: Mayor Mirri recessed the meeting at 9:25 PM for an Executive Personnel Session. RECALL: The meeting was recalled to order by Mayor Mirri at 11:15 PM with all Council present.
