HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1977-08-1028O ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD AUGUST 10, 1977 TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG: ROLL CALL: ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES EXEC CONTRACT FOR PRINTING OF QUARTERLY LEISURE ACTIVITIES BROCHURE CITY STRIKE RECESS: SPECIAL STUDY MEETING WITH PLANNING COMM 7:30 PM. Council Conference Room, City Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Damonte at 7:32 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. Present: Councilmen Richard A. Battaglia, William A. Borba, Emanuele N. Damente, Terry J. Mirri and Leo Padreddii. Absent: None. Staff Report, dated August 10, 1977, recommending that Council, by motion, authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Rapid Printers and Lithographers for printing of the Quarterly Leisure Activities Brochure. After a brief explanation Councilman Padreddii moved, seconded by Councilman Battaglia and regularly carried that the recommendation of the Director of Finance be approved and accepted. Pete Mannion, representing the striking City employees, addressed Council and commented on the results with the mediator. He stated that there was still one n~jor item on the table. This item was the clause to protect all the terms and conditions of employment which the employees have had for the past five or six years. He urged Council to go into Executive Personnel Session to reconsider this matter. Discussion followed, after which Mayor Damonte stated that tonight's meeting would be adjourned to tomorrow night. Mayor Damonte then recessed the meeting at 7:44 PM in order that Council could conduct the Special Study Meeting with the Planning Commission. Council concluded its meeting with the Planning Commission at 10:02 PM. R~CESS : RECALL TO ORDER: EXECUTIVE PERSONNEL SESSION ADJOURNMENT Mayor Damonte then recessed the meeting at 10:03 PM to an Executive Personnel Session. The City Clerk was excused from attending. The meeting was recalled to order by Mayor Damonte at 11:08 PM with all Council present. Mayor Damonte then made the following statement: "We have just returned from discussing labor negotiations. We would like to adjourn this meeting until tomorrow night and, in the event that the meeting is not held, it will be adjourned until Monday at 7:30 PM in the Council Conference Room. If at that time it is necessary, Vice-Mayor Borba will announce the meeting if need be. I will be out of town until next Friday, and Vice-Mayor Borba will be in charge of all matters." There being nothing further to come before Council, Councilman Borba moved, seconded by Councilman Padreddii that the meeting be adjourned to Thursday, August 11, 1977 at 7:30 PM.
