HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1978-06-05ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD JUNE 5, 1978 TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG: ROLL CALL: INTERVIEWS FOR APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS m/ES ELECTION OF BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS 5:00 PM. Council Conference Room, City Hall. The n~eting was called to order by Mayor Borba at 5:02 PM. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. Present: Councilmen Ronald G. Acosta, William A. Borba, Emanuele N. Damonte and Terry J. Mirri, Councilwoman Roberta Cerri Teglia. Absent: None. Council interviewed the following applicants for appointment to the Boards and Commissions: Name and Address Donald Richard Cordo 658 Palm Avenue William Craib 2410 Tipperary Avenue Louis Martin 2249 Derry Way Boards and Commissions Applied For Personnel Planning Planning The Deputy City Clerk then distributed ballots for the Recreation Commission, Personnel Board and Planning Commission. The Council vote was as follows: Recreation Commission Joan Hamilton Gus Nicolopulos Personnel Board Donald Richard Cordo Planning Commission Donald J. Grimes Robert Mantegani ITEMS FROM COUNCIL EXPIRATION OF TERMS ON LIBRARY BOARD Councilwoman Teglia reminded Council that on June 30, 1978 two terms on the Library Board would be expiring. After a brief discussion it was unanimously agreed by Council that the matter would be held over until August due to the upcoming budget hearings and Councilmember's vacations. EVALUATION OF PRESENT BOARD AND COMMISSION MEMBERS A brief discussion then followed concerning absences and the possible evaluation of present Board and Commission members. It was agreed that the Mayor would forward a memo to the Boards and Commissions concerning absences and advising them of Council's disapproval of any Board and Commission cancelling regularly scheduled meetings for the entire summer. APPOINTMENT OF CITY CLERK PRO TEMPORE Council next discussed the matter of the appointment of the City Clerk Pro Tempore. Mayor Borba appointed Co=ucilwoman Teglia to serve as City Clerk Pro Tempore in the interim 30 day period until Council decided what direction to take in filling the vacancy of the Office of City Clerk. City Clerk Pro Tempore Teglia then appointed Elaine Scotto to serve as her deputy. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED ADJOURNMENT Mayor Borba administered an Oath of Office to City Clerk Pro Tempore Teglia, who in turn administered an Oath to Elaine Scotto, her deputy. There being nothing further to come before Council, Councilman Damente then moved, seconded by Councilman Mirri and regularly carried that the meeting be adjourned. Time of adjournment was 6:55 PM.
