Recited.
The City Council meets tonight in com-
pliance with Section 22932 of the
Elections Code and Section 36801 of the
Government Code of the State of California.
In accordance with those Sections the
Council will: 1) receive the certifi-
cation from the City Clerk regarding the
election results; 2) adopt a Resolution
declaring the election results, and 3)
choose one of its members as Mayor and
one of its members as Mayor Pro Tempore.
In accordance with Section 22933 of
the Election Code the total number of
votes that were cast was 6,850.
The names of the persons voted upon for
Council were Mark N. Addiego, who
received 3,795 votes; Emanuele N. Damonte,
who received 3,520 votes; James J. Keegan,
who received 1,790 votes; William A.
Borba, who received 2,553 votes; Gus
Nicolopulos, who received 4,569 votes;
Roy R. Ghilardi, who received 1,463 votes.
The names of the persons voted upon for
City Clerk were Gale F. Dreisbach, who
received 864 votes; Barbara A. Battaya,
who received 3,397 votes and Leo Ferko,
who received 1,937 votes.
The names of those persons voted upon
for City Treasurer were John J.
Bonalanza, who received 3,430 votes;
Richard A. Battaglia, who received
2,899 votes.
There were no measures to be voted upon.

A RESOLUTION CANVASSING RETURNS AND
DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON APRIL 8, 1980 (WITH
ATTACHMENT OF THE OFFICIAL CANVAS BY THE
COUNTY CLERK OF ELECTION PRECINCTS)
Comments by Outgoing Councilmembers.
Oath of Office Administered.
Presentations:
Campaign Statements as required by the
Elections Code and Government Code
have been filed with the City Clerk's
Office per Government Code Section
84200, et. seq. (lst statement 40 days
prior to the election and the 2nd not
later than 12 days prior to the election).
M/S Teglia/Borba - To adopt the
Resolution.
RESOLUTION NO. 30-80
Carried by unanimous voice vote.
Councilman Borba thanked his friends,
campaign workers and those that voted
for him and stated he had enjoyed the
four years of being responsive to the
voters of South San Francisco. He
stated that in life one must learn to
win and to lose and although he did
not make this election he felt it was
the people who had lost and not he.
He wished the new Council well in its
new term.
Mayor Mirri echoed Councilman Borba's
comments and thanked everyone for a
very rich and rewarding two terms as
a Councilman and stated it had been
a rewarding experience. He expressed
his appreciation to Staff for their
cooperation during his tenure.
At this time Mayor Mirri administered
the Oath of Office to City Clerk Elect
Barbara A. Battaya.
City Clerk Battaya then administered
the Oath of Office to the following
persons: Councilmen Elect Mark N.
Addiego, Emanuele N. Damonte, Gus
Nicolopulos; City Treasurer Elect
John J. Bonalanza.
Vice Mayor Acosta presented Certificates
of Election to Council, City Clerk and
the City Treasurer.

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING COUNCILMAN BORBA.
COMMENTS:
M/S Damonte/Teglia - For the Office of
Mayor, Ronald G. Acosta.
Carried by unanimous voice vote.
M/S Acosta/Damonte - For the Office of
Vice Mayor Gus Nicolopulos.
M/S Addiego/Teglia - For the Office of
Vice Mayor Roberta C. Teglia.
Mayor Acosta called for a roll call vote
for the Office of Vice Mayor, Gus
Nicolopulos.
Carried by majority roll call vote,
Councilwoman Teglia and Councilman
Addiego voting no.
Motion by Councilman Damonte - To adopt
the Resolution.
RESOLUTION NO. 32-80
Carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Councilman Damonte - To adopt
the Resolution.
RESOLUTION NO. 31-80
Carried by unanimous voice vote.
Mayor Acosta at this time presented
plaques to former Mayor Mirri and former
Councilman Borba for their services to
the City.
Mr. Mirri and Mr. Borba expressed their
appreciation for the plaques.
Mayor Acosta stated that it was an honor
to be appointed Mayor of South San
Francisco and that he would represent
all of the citizenry. He invited those
present to attend a champagne reception
at the Holiday Inn following adjournment
of the meeting.
Councilman Addiego expressed appreciation
in having been elected by his community.

ADJOURNMENT
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,
City of South San Francisco
Councilman Damonte expressed gratitude
for the support of the people in electing
him for another term of office.
City Clerk Battaya thanked everyone for
the over whelming honor they had paid
her and hoped always to uphold the
faith of:the citizenry.
City Treasurer Bonalanza thanked the
citizenry for exercising their right
to vote and voting for him.
Councilwoman Teglia stated that she
intends to continue working to serve
this community with much energy as she
has in the last two years. She
urged everyone to keep a close watch
on the Council actions because of
issues upcoming, otherwise she felt
they might lose their City.
M/S Damonte/Nicolopulos - That the
meeting be adjourned.
Carried by unanimous voice vote.
