COMMUNITY FORUM Announced that the 911 Program was now in effect in this City and when an emergency arose a resident could dlal 911 for prompt assistance. Staff Report 11/9/84 recommending by Motion to deny and refer the follow- ing claims to the City's Insurance Adjuster and to the office of the City Attorney: a) Claim as filed by Daphne B. Ford alleging costs which were incurred as the result of her vehicle being im. pounded by the South San Francisco Police Department. b) Claim 'as filed by Donald Bloom, Esq., on behalf of Carlos Antonio Cornejo alleging per- sonal injuries sustained as the result of an incident involving members of the South San Francisco Pol ice Department. Staff Report - Continued. ® authorize the work and call for bids for the Siebecker Lighting Project. A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND CALLING BIDS FOR SIEBECKER LIGHTING PROJECT Staff Report 11/9/84 recommending adopt, ion of a Resolution which retains Bartle Wells as financial advisor for the second phase of the Gateway Project. A RESOLUTION RETAINING THE FIRM OF BARTLE WELLS ASSOCIATES AS FINANCIAL ADVISORS IN CONNECTION WITH THE SALE OF ASSESSMENT BONDS FOR THE SECOND PHASE OF THE GATEWAY PROJECT Staff Report 11/9/84 recommending adoption of a Resolution which amends the agreement for the records management program. A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CONSULTING SERVICES AGREEMENT APPROVAL OF BILLS 8. Approval of the Regular Bills of CONSENT CALENDAR RESOLUTION NO. 179-84 RESOLUTION NO. 180-84 RESOLUTION NO. 181-84 M/S Teglia/Haffey - To approve the Consent Calendar with the exception items no. 3 and 4. Carried by unanimous voice vote. APPROVAL OF BILLS M/S Damonte/Teglia - To approve the Regular Bills in the amount of $926,148.33. Carried by unanimous voice vote. Mayor Addiego did not participate or vote in the matter of the claim of Brentwood Market. Councilwoman Teglia announced that on Sunday, 11/18/84, at 10:00 a.m. at Orange Memorial Park there would be a Veteran Day observance and that Congressman 11/9/84 Page 3 AGENDA ACTION TAKEN ITEMS FROM COUNCIL 9. Reorganizatio? of the City Council by the selection of a new Mayor and Vice Mayor. Lantos would be in attendance for the ceremony honoring veterans. ITEMS FROM COUNCIL Mayor Addiego made the following closing remarks: that Councilman Damonte had stated that when a Mayor stepped down as Mayor it was as though a burden had been removed and questioned if that resulted in a tingling sensation; presented acco- lades to the City Manager for having guided him through the running of City government on a day to day basis and in doing so gathering respect from his peers in San Mateo County; thanked his family for their love and support; the honor of being Mayor at twenty-nine years of age which was the realization of a boyhood dream. He presented long stem red roses to his mother as out-going first lady and to Vice Mayor Haffey's wife Carol as the (n- coming first lady. Vice Mayor Haffey presented a plaque on behalf of the Council to Mayor Addiego (n recognition of his achievements as Mayor over the last eighteen months. Councilwoman Teglia presented a gold tie tack in the shape of a gavel to Mayor Addiego. Mayor Addiego opened the floor to nom(na- tions for Mayor. M/S Teglia/Damonte - To nominate Vice Mayor Haffey as Mayor. M/S Damonte/Nicolopulos - To close the nominations. Carried by unanimous voice vote. The Motion and Second to nominate Vice Mayor Haffey as Mayor was carried by una- nimous roll call vote. Mayor Haffey opened the floor to nomina- tions for Vice Mayor. 11/9/84 Page 4 AGENDA ACTION TAKEN 252 ITEMS FROM COUNCIL ge Reorganization of the City Council by the selection of a new Mayor and Vice Mayor - Continued. ITEMS FROM COUNCIL M/S Addiego/Haffey - To nominate Councilwoman Teglia as Vice Mayor. Mayor Haffey stated that only through the graciousness of Councilwoman Teglia had he become Vice Mayor last year when the top vote getter had been Councilwoman Teglia. Councilman Damonte stated that as a gesture of competition he would have liked to nominate Councilman Nicolopulos, however in the spirit of cooperation he would move that the nominations be closed. M/S Damonte/Addiego - To close the nomi- nations for Vice Mayor. Councilman Nicolopulos stated that he always encouraged cooperative rather than adversary relations on the Council and would vote for Councilwoman Teglla. Carried by unanimous voice vote to close the nominations. The Motion and Second to nominate Councilwoman Teglia as Vice Mayor was carried by unanimous roll call vote. Mayor Haffey expressed appreciation from he and his wife to friends, family and supporters for their help for a number of years. He spoke of the achievements of former Mayor Addiego: the Historic Preservation Ordinance for buildings in the community; the program to evaluate managers; reorga- nization of city management; continued economic growth; that through Mark's leadership the Council no longer accepted mediocrity in the community - only excellence; that it was a very hard working Council, etc. He invited the community to make applica- tions for appointment to Boards and Commissions and to become actively involved in City Government. 11/9/84 Page 5 AGENDA ACTION TAKEN GOOD AND WELFARE GOOD AND WELFARE No one chose to speak.
