Halley Gus Nicolopulos Roberta Cerri Teglia MINUTES City Council City Council Conference Room City Hal 1 February 3, 1988 0039 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to Section 54956 of the Government Code of the State of California, that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco will hold a Special Meeting on Wednesday, the 3th day of February 1988, at 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Conference Room, City Hall, 400 Grand Avenue, South San Francisco, California. Purpose of the meeting: 1. A study session on the Ballot Measure for the expansion of Orange Memorial Park on the 4/12/88 Special Election. 2. Closed Session for the purpose of the discussion of personnel mat- ters, labor relations, property negotiations and litigation. City of South San Francisco Dated: February 1, 1988 AGENDA CALL TO ORDER: (Cassette No. 1) ROLL CALL: A study session on the Ballot Measure for the expansion of Orange Memorial Park on the 4/12/88 Special Election. ACTION TAKEN 5:30 p.m. Mayor Drago presiding. Council present: Council absent: Addiego, Haffey, Nicolopulos, Teglia and Drago. None. Mayor Drago stated that this was the opportunity for the Council to discuss the plans for the 4/12/88 Election, and finalize an argument in favor of the measure. Councilman Haffey stated that he had pre- pared a draft argument upon the request of the Mayor, and felt that the most important thing to point out in the argument was that industrial and com- mercial properties would be paying a large share of the property tax increase. Closed Session for the purpose of the discussion of personnel matters, labor relations, property negotiations and litigation. ADJOURNMENT: to show that a greater percentage of the taxes would be paid by the industrial and commercial properties; that tomorrow was the deadline for submittal of arguments; on refining the language to enhance the argument for the bond measure; having a meeting on 2/20/88 at the MSB at 10:00 a.m. to solicit committee members and organize campaign workers; that Mr. Zellmer would be Treasurer; would acquire a Committee I.D. for campaign filings, a bank account, bulk mailing permit, and a post office box; organize an Executive Committee to write argument, arrange financing, strategy for signs, get speakers to address all local groups; form Citizens Committee; form Steering Committee; form telephone banks; for- mulate a budget, etc. City Manager Lewis stated that the City would be receiving an award in Long Beach for the Magnolia Center, and requested permission for he and the Mayor to attend to accept the award. Mayor Addie§o left the meeting at 7:00 p.m. M/S Teglia/Nicolopulos - To approve the City representation in Long Beach to accept the award. Carried by unanimous voice vote. CLOSED SESSION Council chose not to hold a Closed Session. M/S Nicolopulos/Haffey - To adjourn the meeting. Carried by unanimous voice vote.
