CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO
COMMUNITY MEETING
JANUARY 6, 2000
WESTBOROUGH RECREATION CENTER

Call to Order: 7:08 p.m.
Roll Call: Present:
Councilmembers Datzman, Mullin and Penna*,
Mayor Pro Tem Fernekes and Mayor Matsumoto
Absent: None
*Councilman Penna arrived at 7:20 p.m.
Staff Present: City Manager Wilson, City Attomey Mattas, Assistant City
Manager Moss; Department Heads: Bower, Nagel, Lee, Raffaelli, Sommer,
Steele, and Van Duyn; Division Heads: Quinn, Kianpour, Bordi, Ranals, and
Lucia; Other staff members: Perotti, Cullinan, Vellis, Chenette, Wong, Porter,
Sullivan, Rucker, Penman, Armanino, M. Metcalf, K. Metcalf, Yballa, Ferrari,
Lappen, Hunziker, Grantano, and Linder
Mayor Matsumoto explained the purpose of the meeting: An opportunity for residents to address
the City Council, City Manager and City staff on issues of concern.
City Manager Wilson presented a comprehensive visual presentation that illustrated the City's
current developments in Westborough, Bay West Cove, and E1 Camino Corridor. The presentation
included information on community outreach projects and capital improvement projects.
The meeting was opened to questions from those in attendance (approximately 75+ people, not
including staff), Council and staff responded to questions accordingly. Concerns included:
· Aircraft Noise Insulation Program boundaries (footprint)
Oakmont Vistas -
egress from the development
cars speeding along Oakmont Drive
a residential project that includes a Storage USA facility
the Planning Commission process/public notification
appeal process, if project is approved by Council
Several residents stated that they were told the meeting was to discuss the Oakmont Vista
development. Mayor Matsumoto explained that the community meeting is an informal
forum for Council to listen to residents of Westborough. Director Van Duyn further
clarified the public hearing process and encouraged speakers to attend the January 26 City
Council meeting to voice their concerns.
Funds for a Westborough swimming pool
· Measures being taken to insure the City is not subjected to another lawsuit
· Traffic along Shannon Drive
· Signalization at Galway Drive
· A private lawsuit resulting in a lien being imposed on Westborough homeowners
· Appreciation to Council for holding a community meeting in the Westborough
neighborhood

Mayor Matsumoto adjourned the meeting at 9:05 p.m. Approved by voice vote.
