HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 2000-08-10 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO COMMUNITY MEETING AUGUST 10, 2000 WEST ORANGE LIBRARY LIBRARY AUDITORIUM 840 WEST ORANGE AVENUE Call to Order: Roll Call:, 7:05 p.m. Present: Councilmembers Gonzalez, Mullin and Penna, and Mayor Matsumoto Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Fernekes was representing the City at a C/CAG meeting Staff Present: City Manager Wilson, City Attorney Mattas, Assistant City Manager Moss; Department Heads: Bower, Gibbs, Nagel, Lee, Steele, and Van Duyn. Division Heads: Quinn, Cooper, Fragoso, Bordi, Kirkman, Lucia, Ranals, Sparks and White. Other staff members: Antonio, Fulghum-Nutters, Lappen, and Mahon Director Quinn presided over the community meeting and reviewed the ground rules. City Manager Wilson presented a visual presentation that illustrated the City's current developments and activities. The meeting was opened to questions from those in attendance (approximately 18 residents). Council and staff responded to questions accordingly. Items discussed: · Avalon Park gophers affecting neighborhood · Winston Manor neighborhood play area · Debris, glass and lack of garbage cans in Paradise Park; broken water fountain near baseball field · Concern that EIR mitigation measures do not sufficiently address traffic impacts along E1 Camino Real · Information: The owner of Treasure Island Trailer Court, Mr. Oliver Hamlin, announced he is working with the San Francisco Water Department to resolve access to the 50' easement to replace the water pipe line · Census 2000 - South San Francisco's population will increase by 2,000_+ · Code enforcement's work and responsiveness · Status of sewer connection fees for developers and the proposed increase · Concerns regarding Serramonte Corporate Center's sewer connection fees, traffic impacts from proposed development, and explanation of sewer flow rate · RCN Cable TV - Installation of fiber optic line in Serra Highlands' area, tearing up streets and asphalt patchwork City' pavement management system Benefits of having two cable TV companies in city · BART Resurfacing of El Camino Real after BART is completed Landscaping El Camino Real Re-paving Chestnut, Orange, and Spruce Avenues upon completion of project · Sidewalk deficiencies along El Camino Real.
