Public Comments: None.
Study Session: Update on AB 939 Solid Waste Program and South San Francisco
Scavengers' plastic garbage toter program.
Public Works Director Gibbs stated the goals of the South San Francisco Scavenger
Company is to improve pick-up and disposal of waste within the city.
Ms. Menner, gave a visual presentation and an overview of potential future plans, that
includes applying for a 1066 extension to achieve compliance with AB 939. (A copy of
the Power Point presentation was submitted to Council.)
Council voiced concerns on the automated cart collection system, public education, rate
increases and the ability to attain the goal set by the California Integrated Waste
Management Board.

Labor Negotiator on AFSCME, Confidential, International Association of Firefighters,
