1. Called to Order: 7:06 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Present: Councilmembers Garbarino,Normandy and
Matsumoto, Vice Mayor Gupta, and Mayor
Addiego.
Absent: None.
3. Post Colors.
Colors were honorably and duly posted by members of the South San Francisco Police Explorers
Program.
4. Pledge of Allegiance. Led by Mayor Addiego.
5. Star Spangles Banner. Performed by resident, Nicole Chin.
6. Introduction of Elected Officials.
Mayor Addiego introduced the elected officials and/or their representatives that were in
attendance at the meeting.
7. Public Comments - comments were limited to items on the Special Meeting Agenda.
None.
Prior to Reorganization of the City Council, Mayor Addiego invited Chief of Police Azzopardi to
provide an update on the condition of Officer Robby Chon who was assaulted in the line of duty
on Thanksgiving Day.
Chief Azzopardi addressed Council and the public advising that while Officer Chon had a long
recovery ahead, his condition had been downgraded from critical to stable. His family and the
Police Department were deeply appreciative of the outpouring of support. Officer Chon is a
fighter and indicated that he looks forward to coming back to work. The Chief closed by
thanking Council, Mayor Addiego, staff and the public for their strong support of the Department
over the past year.
The Mayor requested a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the fire that took place at
an Oakland warehouse over the weekend. He specifically asked that Michaela Gregory be
remembered as her family resided in South San Francisco.
Council, staff and the public observed a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the
Oakland warehouse fire, including Michaela Gregory.
8. Reorganization of the City Council.
Mayor Addiego declared the purpose of the meeting was to reorganize the South San Francisco
City Council.

Mayor Addiego delivered outgoing remarks.
b. Nominations for Mayor; close of nominations; appointment
Motion—Councilman Garbarino/Second—Councilwoman Normandy: to nominate and appoint
Hon. Dr. Pradeep Gupta to serve as Mayor of the City of South San Francisco. Unanimously
approved by Roll Call vote.
c. Nominations for Vice Mayor; close of nominations; appointment
Motion—Vice Mayor Gupta/Second—Councilwoman Matsumoto: to nominate and appoint
Hon. Liza Normandy to serve as Vice Mayor of the City of South San Francisco. Unanimously
approved by Roll Call vote.
d. Oaths of Office administered to incoming Mayor and Vice Mayor.

8. Presentation to Outgoing Mayor.
Councilman Addiego was presented with a Proclamation honoring his service as Mayor and the
Councilmembers made donations to the Boys and Girls Club in honor of his service as Mayor.
9. Adjournment.
Being no further business, Mayor Gupta adjourned the meeting at 8:17 p.m.
