Approval of Minutes: Minutes of February 1, 2017 were approved
ADMINISTRATIVE BUSINESS:
Item 1. Caltrain Station Plaza: Presentation by Tony Rozzi, City of South San Francisco
Planner and René Bihan and Daniel Cunningham of SWA Landscape
City of South San Francisco Planner Tony Rozzi, along with René Bihan and Daniel
Cunningham of SWA Landscape revealed the City now has an opportunity to help make the
plaza a better design project.

The focus now will not only be to create an accessible, safer, and pedestrian and bicycle friendly
plaza, but to design an area that will become a focal point for the downtown residents and riders.
SWA gave the committee a survey to help identify what the City could do on the surface to make
the project more attractive and artistic. Tony Rozzi shared that the findings and
recommendations gathered from the session would be presented at a City Council meeting in the
month of May.
Councilmember Karyl Matsumoto joined the meeting to listen to the presentation, share her
views on the plaza plan, and ensure that BPAC was aware the Bike Plan is on the Capital
Improvements list.
Item 2. Baytrail Assessment Progress
Cassandra addressed the committee about the progress of their individual trail assessments. Due
to the continuous rain, assignments were not completed. The committee agreed to push the
deadline to the next meeting.
Item 3. Vision Zero Update
Dan spoke with Emma Shlaes from the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition back in February and
revisited the Vision Zero project. His goal was to find out the benefits of adopting Vision Zero
and inquire if other municipalities have adopted the program.
After speaking with Ms. Shlaes, Dan thought the City was already in line with a lot of Vision
Zero’s points but called upon the committee to think about whether or not they would like to
formally bring the program to South San Francisco. At this time, the committee decided to read
the information provided by Dan and revisit the topic at a later date.

Ari Gerrits:
Ari was still searching for the BPAC List of Priorities to share with the group. Michelle offered
to look in the City’s computer archives for this document.
Ari also inquired as to who updates the BPAC website. The administrative assistants for
Engineering are aware of the changes that need to be made and are actively working with the
City’s Information Technology department to rectify the issue.
