VII. SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS:
1. Sculpture
Director Ranals reported that City Council approved the purchase of the three sculptures
at their regular council meeting of January 10. The locations are still being finalized.
Staff is planning for installation of Windswept on Westborough Boulevard, west of the
Millenium sculpture, on the west side of the freeway. The Orange Slice is being planned
for at the end of the Sculpture Garden. City Council requested Popsicle to be in Orange
Memorial Park but not close to a playground to avoid confusion that it is climbing
equipment. Landscape Architect, Gilchrist reported that installation of the sculptures is
being planned with the help of Public Works to ensure that the footings are structurally
safe and that contracts are going out to the artists next week. Director Ranals said that
we will notify the Commissioners when the sculptures will be installed in case they want
to be present to meet the artist.
Commissioner Boldenweck questioned installing Windswept on Westborough
Boulevard. Director Ranals said that if the Commission has a better location, she can ask
City Council for approval. Commissioner Gekker suggested installing it more west on
Westborough Boulevard.

$50,000 to the Cultural Arts Commission budget that was inadvertently not rolled over
from last year.
