CALL TO ORDER TIME: 9:09 P.M.
ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilmembers Addiego, Garbarino and Gupta,
and Mayor Pro Tern Matsumoto and.
ABSENT: Mayor Normandy.

ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION
1. Report regarding a resolution approving the purchase of two type one fire engines in
the amount of $1,393,163; authorizing the City Manager to enter into a purchase
agreement with Hi -Tech Emergency Vehicle Service, Inc., for the construction and
purchase of two fire engines; approving the purchase of tools and equipment related to
this apparatus purchase in the amount of $56,837; and approving budget amendment
18.028 in the amount of $250,000 to appropriate funds from the Developer
Contribution Fund towards the total purchase amount. (Bryan Saenz, Battalion Chief)

Interim Deputy Fire Chief Samson presented the staff report recommending that Council adopt a
Resolution approving the purchase of two type one fire engines in the amount of$1,393,163;
authorizing the City Manager to enter into a purchase agreement with Hi -Tech Emergency Vehicle
Service, Inc., for the construction and purchase of two fire engines; approving the purchase of tools
and equipment related to this apparatus purchase in the amount of $56,837; and approving budget
amendment 18.028 in the amount of $250,000 to appropriate funds from the Developer Contribution
Fund towards the total purchase amount. He advised that the Department utilized a bid process
already completed by the City of San Jose Fire Department, which brought efficiency to the process.
The Department recommended approval of the proposal.
In response to inquiry from Councilmembers, Interim Deputy Chief Samson noted the proposal was for
lease and not purchase of the two (2) rigs.
Councilmembers expressed a preference for purchase and directed Fire Department staff and the Finance
Director to return with a for - purchase option to consider against the currently proposed lease option.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, Mayor Pro Tern Matsumoto adjourned the meeting at 9:21 p.m.
