The Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco do ordain as follows: Section 1. A ~ublic dance within the meaning of this ordinance is any dance to which the public is a~mitte~, and which is held or conducted for profit, or a2 which an admission fee is charged those attending, whether said ad- mission fee be charged at the door or through the sale of tickets or in any other manner whatsoever. Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, association or corporation to open, conduct or carry on or to participate in the opening, conducting or carrying on of a public dance in the City of South San Francisco, ex- cept by and after secoming a permit therefor from the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, as herein- after provided. Section 3. Any ajpplication for the permit provided in Section 2 of this ordinance shall be in writing and shall set forth the name or names of the applicant or applicants, the time when and the place where it is proposed to hold er conduct such public dance. Section ~. In granting any permit under this orin- ance said Board of Trustees, shall fix the hours during which --l-- such public dance may be conducted . It shall be unlawful for the holder of any permit granted under this ordinance to con- duct or carry on any public dance after the time limited in such per- mit. ~t shall be unlawful for any person or persons to participate in any dance conducted or held pursuant to such permit after the time limited in such permit. Section 5. At any time when said Board of Trustees is not in session, any three members thereof may, by consent in writ- lng, grant a permit to conduct a public dance and may fix the hours during which such public dance may be conducted. Section 8. No public dance shall be allowed at any time of night nor shall any public dance be held at any time of night, in any dance hall, ball room or other public place at any time when the same is not continuously illuminated throughout with bright lights of gas or electricity. Section 7. No immoral or obscene dancing shall be permitted. Section 8. No permit issued under the terms of this ordinance shall be transferable. Section 9. Any person or persons who violate any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis- demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a· fine of not less than Twenty-five Dollars .~25.00) and not exceeding Fifty Dollars (i~0.00) or by imprisonment not ex- ceeding thirty (Z0) days or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 10. 0rdi~nce No. 88 of the City of South San Francisco entitled "An ordinance regulating public dances and entertainments and providing a penalty for the violation thereof," passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco on the l&th day of February, 1916, is hereby repealed. Section ll. This ordinance shall be published once in ~The Enterprise~, a ~eekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of South San Francisco, and shall take effect and be in force upon the expiration of thirty (30) days from and after its adoption. ~ day of ~ , 1915.
