Strickland Variance Application _ Commissioner Martinez opened, the public hearing on the variance application of James R. Strickland to permit a 10 foot encroachment into required 20 foot rear yard at 233 Alta Mesa Drive. The Secretary read a letter from Robert Flickinger of 49 Capay Circle regarding this bearing which stated be has no objections to the addition and feels it will be an asset to the neighborhood. Mr. and Mrs. Strickland were in the audience to answer any questions the Commission wished to ask, The Commission discussed the large side yard from 18 to 21 feet extending the length of their property (129.99) and It there was sufficient open space and yarl area so that the granting of the request would not be detrimental Commissi.oner Christensen moved and it was seconded by Commis- sioner Wells that thepubllchearing be closed. Motion passed unani- mously. Commissioner Christensen introduced Resolution No. 1380 granting the variance application of James R. Strickland for a 10' encroach- ment into required 20' rear yard at 233 Alta Mesa Drive. ROLL CALL: Ayes, Commissioners Noes Absent, tv Christensen? Gardner, Wells and Martinez None Buerger, Moakler and Reuter Vf Theodore and Barbara Hartvig Variance Application Chairman Martinez opened the public hearing on the variance application of Theodore and Barbara Hartvig to allow a 5 foot setback off Green Street and a 6 foot setback off Lewis Avenue instead of the required 15 foot front yard and 10 foot side ya~(i.as requ:i..red on a corner 10t1 due to the extreme slope of the lot. The Commission continued the public hearing until they could act upon the resubdivision .request of Theodore Hartvig. Resubdivision Request Theodore V. Hartvig Chairman Martinez opened the dis- cussion of the resubdivision request of Theodore V. Hartvig to add 20 feet from the rear of lots 1 and 2, Block S, Pecks Subdivision to lot 9, Block S l' Pecks Subdivision, making two pa.rce Is - one, 50 x 80 and one 25 x 100 feet, adding 20 x 50 feet to parcel #2 as taken from Parcel NO.1. C sioner Wells moved and it was seconded by Commissioner Gar er th the resubdivision request of Theodore V. Hartvig to all a variance as stated above, be granted. Motion passed unanimously. Chairman Martinez then continued the public hearing on the variance applic ion of Theodore V Hartvig Mr Nevi ,C1 ty Engineer and Mr.. Ghilardi, Building Inspector, d they had discussed the placement of the building on the lot contractor and they had felt this was the only logical way s building could be placed on this lot due to the extreme slope the lot and felt the driveway as shown coming in off Lewis Avenue a curve would be the best solution, Mr, Percy McNutt appeared for Mr. Hartvig and stipulated that he would agree to,the curb, gutter and sidewalk on Lewis Avenue in accordance with the recommendation of the City Engineer. sioner Wells moved and it was seconded by Commission sen that the public hearing be closed. Retaining wall to be constructed on Lewis Avenue. All in accordance with the recommendations of the City Engineer.
