Commissioner Getz repeated a sug?estion which he had made to the Parking Place Com- mission at a recent joint meeting concernin? the acquisition by the City of a larfe lot somewhere in the Redevelopment Project which could be developed into a park in V. lot for shuttle service into the downtovm area. Such a parking facility would alle- viate the downtown parking problem as well as make those shops accessible to individ- uals working in the industrial areas surrounding East Grand Avenue. Applicant requested, by letter, to withdraw this application pending a ruling from the Planning Commission on a Zone change amendment effecting the entire adjacent area. September 9 Staff Report presented. Applicant present. Joe Kehoe, 10320 Love Road, Cupertino Applicant agreed that they would abide by all Conditions including the Special Condi- tions imposed. There was a discussion regarding the possible lighting nuisance to the surrounding property. A further Condition was imposed by the Commission. Condition 12: Exterior lighting shall be directed away from adjacent residential uses and toward subject property, subject to approval by Police Department. Staff requested continuance of this item in order to forward copies of the map to adjoining property owners. AILSTATE INSURANCE COMPANYjNEGATIVE DECLARATION NO. 280 (HOMART) Application for Negative Declaration to demolish existing Bethlehem Steel Plant and the Edwards Wire Rope Factory located between East Grand Avenue and Oyster Point Boulevard easterly of the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of-way. September 9 Staff Report presented. Applicant not present. The Commission expressed concerns regarding dust control, noise control, the hours of operation, and traffic control. Staff agreed that periodic inspections would be required; that the Applicant should work with Staff to minimize problems. Citizen concern: Ray Latham, 495 Holly Avenue, South San Francisco Margaret Warren, South San Francisco Concerns expressed regarding the proposed hauling rDute and traffic on Oyster Point Boulevard. Harry Humbert, 577 Rocca Avenue, South San Francisco Applicant took exception to Staff corrment 4 regarding signs since there are no signs currently proposed for this property. Staff responded that that Condition would only apply if there were ever any new signs on the proposed building.
