Garbarino
Absent:
None
*Councilman Addiego arrived at 5:50 p.m.
Staff present: City Manager Nagel, City Attorney Mattas,
Library Director Sommer, Human Resources
Director Yamani, Information Technology
Director Hollis, Finance Director Steele,
Police Captain Massoni and Fire Marshal
Niswonger
Others Present: State Senator Leland Yee and Field
Representative James Chang
3. Public Comments
4. To discuss items of mutual interest between City Council and State Senator Leland Yee
The following issues were discussed with Senator Yee:
Assist in effort to have Caltrain station relocated from current location to connect with
Grand Avenue
Support Prop 1 B funding for expanded ferry service
Legislation to include storm drain fee increases as a property-related fee subject to the
provisions of Prop 218
Legislation that "for fee" parking facilities operated by an airport or public agency are
subject to local parking and business license taxes
Legislation to fund library construction/renovation and services
Consideration to consolidating school districts
Highway transportation funding
Increase school funding
Senator Yee, Assistant President Pro Tempore, commented on Council's issues, his
priorities, the reality of politics in Sacramento, and that he will be taking direction from
each community in his district as he meets with them.
5. Adjournment
Being no further business, Mayor Garbarino adjourned the meeting at 6:19 pm.
