SPECIAL MEETING

THURSDAY, JANUARY 22, 2009
1. Called to Order: 6:00 p.m.
2. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen Garbarino, Gonzalez and
Mullin, Vice Mayor Addiego, and Mayor
Matsumoto.
3. Public Comments -comments were limited to items on the Special Meeting Agenda.
None.
4. Council interviewed applicants to fill Parks and Recreation Commission term expirations
and vacancies as follows: David Gallagher, Mark Nagales, Teresa Avelar, Martin H.
Cole, Aldo De Tomasi, Richard Holt, Buenaflor "Flor" Nicolas, Douglas W. Reynolds,
Karen Sumner and Cynthia Velez. Lisa Trujillo was unavailable to be interviewed.
5. Discussion and appointment of applicants to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
After discussion, Council voted by ballot yielding the following result: Mark Nagales, David.
Gallagher and Cynthia Velez were appointed to full terms on the Parks and Recreation
Commission. All terms would expire December 31, 2012. Richard Holt and Aldo De Tomasi
tied for the remaining full term seat.
Motion -Mayor Matsumoto/Second -Vice Mayor Addiego. To reappoint David Gallagher and
Mark Nagales and to appoint Cynthia Velez to the Parks and Recreation Commission for
respective terms to expire December 31, 2012. Unanimously approved by voice vote.
After discussion, Council voted by ballot to break the tie between Mr. Holt and Mr. De Tomasi,
which yielded the following result: Mr. Holt was appointed to a full term on the Parks and
Recreation Commission to expire December 31, 2012.
Motion -Mayor Matsumoto /Second -Councilman Gonzalez. To appoint Richard Holt to the
Parks and Recreation Commission for a term to expire December 31, 2012. Unanimously
approved by voice vote.
After discussion, Council voted by ballot to fill the partial term on the Parks and Recreation
Commission created by the resignation of Ms. Bush, which yielded the following result: Mr.
Reynolds was appointed to a partial term on the Parks and Recreation Commission to expire
December 31, 2010.
Motion -Councilman Garbarino/Second -Councilman Gonzalez. To appoint Douglas W.
Reynolds to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a partial term to expire December 31, 2010.
Unanimously approved by voice vote.
6. Adjournment.
Being no further business, Mayor Matsumoto adjourned the meeting at 9:45 p.m.
